Xbox is now not as good as it was, so you need a second (and have to fit it in somewhere). You still get the looting penalties. Your walls that were once strong can no longer match that of the top enders. And th8 gets the dark elixir drill just as th9. Surely th8 is the place to be?

100% it is. I think TH lvl 8 players, such as myself, are going to be thrilled. Lvl 9 looks better than it did before, but that is not saying much. I dontt see any impact at all really for players lower than TH lvl 7.

Ah I see if you mean X-Bow but if you are just starting at TH9 it should be hard with the penalties but the gemmers and people who've planned or saved up should be set at least or a little prepared. Either way, I'm at TH 8 anyways

UK here too I searched the app manually on App Store and sure enough option to update was there

No point upgrading if the app is still under maintenance. I'll just wait until the maintenance is over, no big deal.
