you should focus on finding a base design that will minimize what attackers can get from you by separating your storages a lot. focus on getting your cheap defense upgrades done and xbow if possible, but I don't think you can get xbows unless you play non stop for a few days or something to not get attacked. if you are really determined though, play non stop to get some high defense upgrades done and level 5 troop upgrades too. at 1400+ you'll find some weak town hall 8 and even 9 bases to attack, but you really should get level 5 troops as fast as you can, along with xbows if possible
