A shotgun wound? More like a stubbed toe to adjust to a few more real defenses. Many update features are welcomed improvements. It directly adds loot back to those who are losing resources from defenses. Lots of feedback given requested something like this... It adds new resources for people who are attacking a very modest amount, 5 stars should be piece of cake. That extra loot goes into the CC where small percent could be taken in a future defense.
I get that some people have had a hard time adjusting or the game doesnt work for you. If these updates cant overcome the problems for you then what would (besides bring back TH snipes)? Speaking from my experience, clanmates think things already better, friends clans and old clans liking the update and most of them are doing so in ignorant bliss of not reading forum posts.
