Let me first say, I have played clash for about 2 years now, ran a very successful war clan and my family in total played 7 accounts. The December update has made me put this game down and break my massive addiction. I have been reading the forums everyday and trying to follow what SC is planning to do to fix mostly the social issues as this thread is about. I believe the Social issues come from Boredom, the boredom comes from the lack of ability to play this game on our schedules and forces us to plan our days around the game.
However, I know TH sniping had to be removed as other posters have stated, it was going to cause the game to implode over time and there must have been a huge increase in the amount of TH Snipers to warrant them to want to take such a huge risk with this terrible update. However the TH Snipe allowed for people to play the game constantly and that is why it was such a huge success, coupled with the fact you didn't always wake up to more resources lost than you could gain if you could not attack that day.
I have ideas on what can help fix this game back to the point it is fun to play again for everyone including extremely casuals, but I doubt SC would implement any of them, however I'll list my ideas below because if its never said, it will never have a chance. It will take multiple of the ideas below to fully balance the game, as its not just 1 issue, there are many.
Lets first start with the parts that must change:
Problem: Attacking through Shields
Reason: This feature must be removed, it is a terrible idea and is causing massive clouding issues for the higher leagues.
Solution: We need to have the ability to be hit while we are online, we need to make it so after X amount of time, your base is able to be attacked again. (Other fixes need to counter the losses which will be listed below)
Problem: Terrible Loot
Reason: Why should people hold loot so others can steal it from them?
Solution: Offer X Amount of loot based on the Strength of the Base, kinda like war strength formulas, reduce the amount stolen from players to be a very low % maybe 3-5% and the rewards from winning are mostly paid from the game.
Problem: Attacks are forever between & Donating to clan only makes this worse
Reason: Training times are ridiculous for a game that is supposed to be fun and try to hold your attention instead of creating Boredom
Solution: Reduce training times, my estimation would be no longer than 15 minutes between attacks
Problem: Hard to profit with your attacks
Reason: Troop costs are crazy high, with the lack of loot, clan donations drop and people are not willing to risk attacks.
Solution: Reduce costs of Troops/Spells, my estimation would be around 10-25% of what they currently are. Now you say you would profit too much, while the above fixes offering less loot from the player and more from the game would balance the % you should earn from the challenge of the attack you would be fighting. Troops should almost be FREE, this encourages more attacks, more donations and more people donating in clan.
Problem: Tons of Clouds for the top players
Reason: This issue is causing the top players to get bored waiting for sometimes multiple hours just for a target to attack
Solution: Instead of basing the Top players on Trophies and League, Implement a system where the top lets say 2000 unshielded players are available to each other regardless of League and Base the Trophies on a Flat system, maybe 6 trophies for 3 stars. If you are in the Top 2000 unshielded players, you can at max lose 6 trophies from a defense. This will always give the top players a target.
Problem: Bunny users in war
Reason: This creates what most players deem as an unfair advantage and rightfully so, this should be your #1 issue you try to fix SuperCell, WAR is the "BEST" part of this game IMO. If there was no WAR in this game, I would have never even stuck around for 2 years.
Solution: New Mode/Style of WAR, you could have 2 modes for war and what your clan prefers, the normal mode and the hardcore. Normal mode is what we currently have, it allows for bunny users to practice etc. Hardcore mode would not reveal any of the bases and you only get 1 chance at each base. For this mode to work, you would have to show the TH levels which you can see already, and when you go to attack, you get up to 2 minutes of viewing time before you must make your attack. You cannot cancel your attack, and each base can only be attacked once. You could still allow for 2 attacks per person, but that is only in case there is an inactive player, or a player quits, drops etc.
Problem: Personal Break Time
Reason: It is never a good idea to force someone off your game, it can only cause loss of players because they feel they are punished for playing your game.
Solution: With the above idea under shields, where someone can attack you while your online, you can effectively remove PBT. The only reason for it was so that people could not hide 24/7 without being attacked.
Problem: War Match Making
Reason: Sometimes this is very lopsided and the engineered accounts are causing your formulas to give them easier matches overall. I have engineered accounts as it makes the most sense to give yourself an advantage, so why not do it. However its not best for the game overall.
Solution: You need to adjust how the bases formulas are created with offense vs defense. There must be a "Minimum" War Weight for EACH TH level, and would go to the MAXIMUM only if fully maxed out. This means if there is a rushed or engineered TH10 with only TH7 defenses, it would still rank as a Minimum TH10, and possibly higher if they have any TH10 upgrades. Anything below the TH level does not reduce your war weight. This will cause engineered accounts to have no advantages in war.
Problem: Revenge
Reason: This rarely works and you lose your league bonus when you do it
Solution: Based on the above with being able to be attacked while online, You could make revenge attacks ALWAYS WORK. This could act like its working to the original attacker, but the game funds the loss to the revenger and the attack would not show on their base, kinda like an emulated attack. You could also work on a reward system for revenging players. The more revenges, the better the possible rewards.
Problem: Losing War Troops before making a war attack
Reason: You ask for a golem or expensive troop from your clan, they spend the 45 minutes making you one, then you are raided before you were able to get enough time to attack.
Solution 1: Clan Castle Toggle on/off for defending
Solution 2: Separate donation place for war troops, so you have your normal clan castle troops and then war troops as well
Problem: Hero Regeneration Times
Reason: This is counter productive as the higher you level your hero up, the more bored you must get by waiting for them to regenerate.
Solution: Reduce your Hero regen times. This should be in line with the average time it takes to make a good attacking army. Otherwise you end up bored waiting on the game. I also feel a hero that is on base defense should auto regen without any time. This should be instant, this reduces the 29%'ers and killing hero's to make the base easier for the next attacker.
I have other ideas, however this post is already pretty lengthy and these are some of the most important issues.
I hope people share this around if they agree and lets hope for a change in clash, or we will be left with a player base about the size of StarCraft instead of what this game used to have. There are very limited amounts of hardcore players, this is what WAR mode is for. There are also many X-Hardcore players that are now super casual because they had kids, got married etc. This includes me.
