“Think of the Village Guard like giving your device to your little brother to keep you online - except that the Village Guard won't embarrass you in Clan chat and spend all your gems.”
The way I read that is being able to use your village guard when you want to, when you need to. The only reason to need to pass your device off to your little brother is if something comes up and someone needs to keep your tablet alive to avoid timeout. If I attack through my shield the Village Guard automatically starts counting down even if I am online. Being online while the village guard is active is a waste because being online and having village guard achieve the same result, which is not being added to the queue.
Suggest to change the village guard as follows:
· If shield expires while offline, village guard would become active until login and "paused" or until exhausted.
· If online when shield expires or attack through shield, the village guard would be available for use, but would not automatically be activated.
· Length of village guard would keep current values.
· Allow player to “pause” and resume game as necessary any time using available village guard time (just like if you were handing off your device to your little brother and then taking it back).

Icon changes to a play symbol indicating user is playing the game
· If player remains online through whole PBT, village guard would either never be used and delete upon ejection of game, or automatically start counting down proportionately to time left to PBT (preferred to circumvent stacking village guard if not used).
· If player logs off game and is not attacked for 15 minutes, resetting PBT, village guard would remain intact and be able to be utilized during next session until either reaching PBT or repeating the log off/log in cycle.
· Village Guard would not automatically activate if device times out; user must turn on manually unless near end of PBT (using proposed rules stated above).
· Only way to reset village guard time is to take a defense.
· When village guard is dismissed, the amount of time available for guard would be deducted from total available session time. Currently everyone is held to 4 hour PBT. Below are also proposed changes to length of PBT for each league.
- Titan I / Legend: 8 hour PBT (4hr VG + 4hr PBT)
- Titan II: 7 hour PBT (3hr VG + 4hr PBT)
- Titan III: 6 hour PBT (2hr VG + 4hr PBT)
- Champion (all levels): 5 hour PBT (1hr VG + 4hr PBT)
- Below Champion: 4.5 hour PBT (30min VG + 4hr PBT)
*Technically does not change the amount of time one can play currently.
Examples:
· Acquire 30 minute Village Guard while in Crystal League. Player remains online for entire 4 hour session. Once there is only 30 minutes left of remaining play time before ejection, village guard would begin become active at 30 minute mark and expire upon ejection.
· Player utilizes 10 minutes of village guard, it would activate at 20 minute remaining mark, and so on.
· If player uses 10 minutes of guard, logs off with 20 minutes before PBT ends and does not get attacked for 15 minutes resetting PBT, available village guard time would still be 5 minutes until village guard time is reset upon taking a defense.
· Player is in Champion and has 5 hour PBT. If village guard is dismissed, PBT will now be 4 hours until ejection. Could play 4 hours and set guard and not take a defense for an hour instead of dismissing. This is the same as if player played through village guard and then started a fresh current 4 hour PBT.
I realize this post will probably get moved to the feedback thread but with so much exposure to that thread already people might not want to go in there anymore and this will be overlooked.
Let me know what you think!
