To be fair, there were a few dissenting murmurs that clash had gone stale and there needed to be a game changing update. This was fairly game changing and I am pretty sure no one will complain about clash needing another game changing update in the future.

Softbank acquired SC in Oct. 2013. That's 2 years and 2 months before the dec update. If clash was in any real danger of going stale, surely they would've done some sooner no?
