Exactly, in reality, the mechanic hasn't changed much at all, in fact its benefited many. I've had plenty of post update defences at 35% etc, where now I get a shield, whereas I didn't pre update.
I understand the issue of attackers deliberately going for 29%, but I see this as a short term issue, that will eventually go away for the most part, once SC appeases the masses with loot.

This update has been tested for over a year before being rolled out and the devs know their game the best.I don't think this problem is affecting the majority cause nobody raises the issue except in the forums (small part of clash population ).So just ignore it or adapt✌
If you were hit once for 39% the next attack will mostly be a sniper. Now it is the opposite. You can hit by people doing 29% in row. I've seen 3 defences in row non gave shield. Before you will be hit once then most probably a shield. So it is not the same. I do it sometimes to save my heroes. Once one of them gets hit to a point I might need some healing time I will activate abilities & end attack regardless what the % is

I get what you are saying and I completely agree with you.But the significant increase in league bonus allows us to cover the loss incurred from 29ers and even make a profit by attacking 2 or 3 times in those 30 mins of village gaurd by gemming our troops (yes! You have to buy gems).

You won't get rid of players with a vicious attitude completely. That's in the nature of multiplayer games. Games have been dying failing to address bad player behavior. Imagine all of a sudden everyone would do 29% attacks because other players are doing this to them. How much fun would that be? One simple rule "No shield - no loot" would put an end to this kind of attacks without affecting legit attackers too much (bad luck 29% is exactly that - bad luck).
