You should at least clear your collectors periodically, which is going to put you back in the raid rotation. I would definitely recommend buying a 1 week shield. It really doesn't cost much, and a weeks worth of collector output without a raid really adds up.

no with new update you won't get attacked if you don't log back into the game for an extended period of time. its been proven.
You're better off saving those or using them for boosting. The game sort of gives you a free shield if you don't log in after 2 days.
Clan wars are the only reason I play, so I plan on buying a one-week shield with obstacle gems and coasting up to a few large upgrades via collectors/war loot. After that I'll go back to contributing to the loot drought by dumping everything into walls.
Idk if it is just me as a decent (imo at least) th10 with a good base design, but I am RARELY being full out attacked- maybe once a day, I have gone the whole night shieldless before. Most attacks are just one barbarian. Just get a good base design and you should be ok

TH9 here and enduring full army attacks. So...
I guess I'm in the minority buy the shield camp. If you just go inactive then you can't collect,war,chat,donate etc...
OP said he wouldn't have too much time on his hands anyway. Most clans do have a break policy though.
