I agree. I am not sure what common sense the OP was on about but this makes absolutely none of it.

You don't kill off something profitable on the hopes that the new one will replace it. We all know what happened to Battle Buddies!

At least that would make more sense then outright killing it for no reason. Not addressing the negativity and the fanbase , and stealth playing up a new release as a big update.

But yes killing it for no reason makes more sense.

Absolutely, you kill it for no reason whatsoever.

I don't think the OP's wording is quite right. They haven't "intentionally" killed off their cash cow.

But one thing you can not deny is that they have made it MORE CHALLENGING! and I think this was one of intentions of the new update.

The new Clash Royale game has then Nintendo/party game feel to it, so I suspect they were hoping the COC players seeking "less" of a challenge (i.e. not REAL chiefs ) would look to play something more fun in a world they are already very familiar with.

Anyone who honestly believes that Supercell wanted the update to hurt the game is either naive, stupid, or stupidly naive.

What's more likely is they wanted to spring board Clash Royale with a big update to CoC.

that would insinuate that the new game was in response to the update. that also doesnt make sense.
the game has probably been in development for months

Again, this is a risky new game. What if the people that quit clash because they are "seeking less of a challenge" didn't like this other game either. They have 2 completely different gameplay aspects, one is a card game that (as far as I know) play more, unlock more stuff, design new decks, and level up cards. The other game has basically 3 different aspects: pushing, farming, and warring. Each has their separate gameplay aspects, but none of them are similar to Clash Royale.

Supercells plan to remove TH shields has probably been in the pipeline for just as long, if not even longer! It was just a question of timing. They were perhaps waiting until they had an "alternative Clash game experience" that players not sold by the change could play instead???

It's more likely ex COC players will move to this over Hayday.......

Doesn't seem too far fetched to me.......
