Never seen this before, probably a glitch
He has built new buildings since war started, they should appear during war day, so nothing to worry too much about.
Ya know I seen this posted in the bugs thread, not sure what it is? I'd go check out the bugs thread, and post this there.

Neither. Your opponent just hasn't added the new buildings to the map yet. If they aren't added, which happens with lower levels sometimes, then the shaded area will look normal during war day. Check his regulat village to see what is missing.
He is simply playing clash the way its meant to be played: gemming
It's a new building thing
