Usually around 30K+, it becomes pretty inevitable to get hit if I close the app for more than 20-30 min. After 40k, I start riding shields unless I can leave the game open between raids.

Was going to say the same. 20k breaks the 1k barrier. That is what gets players interested.
Been a TH8 it's starting to become an issue as everything is over 20k. But that's the way it is, I bolted a bit early on TH7 before I learnt how to farm property. So it's fair to expect some back when I fill up.
Haha pretty pathetic people out there, i was going up and was at 12k and started getting lightninged, i have been getting them since, not that bad... Maybe 1 every 2or 3 days

See. It's not changing.
You'll have to have 70k DE before I'd lightning you.
Classic Joke:
Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do THIS! Doctor: Well, don't do that!
Clash of Clans version:
Player: It hurts when I play in Legend League. Logic: Well, don't do that!
In my experience it depends more on trophy count than anything. I've always had th outside, and hover around 2000-2200 trophies with decorations around th, and never been zapped even with 40k De. Zapping is mostly done by lower th levels. Though you do become a tempting target for a full store raid then ; p honestly a max AQ is much more deadly than any zaps heh

I blow my 4 lightnings on a DE storage when there's more than 2K loot available and I'm not pushing. This usually nets 1.2K DE (takes 6 hours to produce at TH9) for a cost of 88K elixir (takes 5 hours to produce), which would be a tiny progress since I'm not doing anything with the spells anyway.
Unless you are desperate for DE for level 1 BK or AQ, zapping usually sets you back.
