How about a level 4 Lava Hound? The new level wouldn't see much of an increase in health or strength but would have an added ability. Just like the King and Queen's special ability, a level 4 Lava Hound could be triggered to split into Lava Pups for those cases when you've damaged all the defense and it's a race against the clock.
