My clan has several 8's in Masters that are holding their own. You will want to use heavy war armies but, as a maxed 8, elixir shouldn't be an issue. Play around with army comps until you find something you like.
I am a maxed 8 and was in Masters 3 until this morning. There is A LOT of TH9's here and that can make it difficult to stay when that is what mainly comes up in the MM.

Attack for high cups, not loot. It takes care of itself once in Masters.
