I don't understand what needs to be saved, either. There are subforums for clans and for strategy. Heck, there's even a subforum for artwork. Seems like general discussion should go in, well, in General.
Someone starts a new thread because they feel like they have something different to offer. I wanted to post about my experience with the new update, but there's a lot of negative feedback from members that claim to be tired of hearing it. I look in this thread, and it sounds like anyone with a negative view of the current state of CoC will get lumped into a single thread because it's more convenient to oversee. Easy is not always the best way, unfortunately.
I was hoping I would come to the forums and find something to look forward to in CoC, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
The merge strategy is not only more convenient, it is more conducive to other discussion. As it sits right now, page 1 of general goes back a whopping 12 minutes. Threads that aren't all that noticeable (AKA not update flame threads) are quickly buried.
And no, the unread post button isn't in the mobile site.
For what it's worth, I think the venting was useful. Honestly I think the 'adapt or quitters' were just as nasty if not more so than the complainers, but that's been debated enough.
If they fix the game, the forum traffic will die down, and if they don't fix it, the traffic will still eventually die down, so I think the forum will be OK either way.
Hmm.... Sounds fishy to me. Feels like a slippery slope. Glad I don't have to be the one to decide what's "best" for the community.
Not that you asked, but from my perspective, I'm frustrated with the game play now. I was hoping to find a place to discuss it. You know, commiserate. Venting a bit about something that I've spent so much time with would be cathartic. In the end, if there's no outlet for that, or if it's perceived to be censored in some way, I'm going to have even less patience with the update, and probably move on sooner than I would have otherwise.
In the end, it's just a game I suppose. No need to get my knickers in a knot over it.

I browse in Mobile mode 99% of the time, so I didn't know that functionality existed. (Wish the forums supported Tapatalk, but that's another subject...)
That said, as someone who's detested merges in the past, I now see some of the benefits of them. People aren't going to waste their breath with unconstructive rants if they know they'll just get merged into oblivion.
The problem is when CONSTRUCTIVE posts also get merged, as they become just as lost to the community as the non-constructive items.
I'm sure it's not an issue with the "regular" interface, but it's definitely a problem in Mobile mode.![]()
