How SC damaged the whole mobile industry with this update

Clash of Clans attracted many different types of players from all walks of life. Soccermoms, professional athletes, schoolchildren, grandmas and grandpas... you name it. All of us had a place, and many of us became customers, making purchases through the game because it was enjoyable and entertaining for us.
Many of the people who are having trouble "adapting" as i see so many on here putting it, are not hardcore gamers, die hard farmers or trophy pushers. For years it was ok to let them play how they wanted and to take their money as far as SC was concerned.
Now everyone needs to be able to run "full attacks"... To be in their "correct league" whatever thats supposed to mean, and to build "stronger bases" even when we all know no base really has a chance of defending at any townhall. This sudden change has alienated huge sections of the community as this is not how people have played for the last 3 years. People are angry, feel decieved and stolen from, and with good reason. Maybe if this had been the game in the first place, many of us never would have played as much, spent any gems, or contributed to making it so successful.
So now SC has our money and has told us all to "adapt or die". Many players have quit already and many more will quit as it becomes clear SC doesnt care what we think.
While clash of clans attracted people who normally would never have spent so much time playing games on their phones or tablets, the latest update burned many of us. For future mobile game developers it may be difficult to get as broad of an audience to be willing to spend real money as we have had happen for years here. I know i for one wont be investing serious time or spending any real cash on any more mobile games, and even am reluctant to build or join anything that resembles a clan considering the way some of my friends have been pushed out.
There will always be a gaming community for mobile devs to serve, I just wonder how much smaller that community is after so many loyal and longtime players have been burned.

Clash (and a few other) mobile games attracked millions of non "gamers" to play mobile games. Clash is now turning back into something that only "gamers" will want to play.

Fully agree....I already started playing a few similar games since the update to try them out, but sure as the sun I'm not spending like I did on clash ever again.

Depends on who you are. Some would argue the extra dark spell and 30 seconds ruined the balance at TH9..and wars for that matter.

ETA- still others would point to lower league bonuses for less than 70% destruction. Or inability to save loot (without gems of course) for that 8, 10 million dollar upgrade at any reasonable pace....yea, it was just the PBT.

This is a fun little phone game, a Evony clone with chat and a few cool features.

Wow, Evony, that game. I keep looking for the name of that game. I played Evony many years ago before Clash of Clans was a thing. And I hated it.

Then, a friend introduced this game, Clash of Clans to me. I didn't start playing one year after he suggested it to me. I didn't play Clash of Clans because i feared the money grab mentality. But Clash of Clans was a good and free game until this December update re-animated my fears from the Evony experience.

TH9 war was destroyed. Some players stayed TH9 only because war was fun and a challenge, the balance was that good. Just one more thing the update ruined.

My clan is only level 4 and we don't war that much, usually once a week or so if enough people could commit. Now nobody wants to because the magic is gone. We are all TH8 and TH9 - where is the fun and excitement if you expect every single one of your bases to get 3 starred every war?

You should perhaps reread the original post. It is not about TH sniping. They could have eliminated that and still not ruined the game.
