Me and My TH9

Hey all,

Hit th 9 on Christmas eve and boy has it been a bumpy ride! Lab done, sf finishing tonight with AQ lvl 2, cc finishing tomorrow and then getting witches the next day. Full on gold at 6.25m, about 3.5m elixir and 10k de after the AQ upgrade. Originally i wanted to go 8.5 but being raided so much, not sure if I should just build both xbows tonight? I can think of two advantages with the xbows tonight: First, we would definitely win the war(paired against a rushed th 9 anyway so a win is a given). Second and perhaps most importantly, I CAN DUMP GOLD!!! Right now with every defense I take up to a 380k loss of Gold and 380k loss of elixir, this is unsustainable. If I don't do the xbows I still have to ditch loot somehow, probably will use it on a wiz tower. Camps will be next hopefully

In Summary: 8.5 or xbows?

This is a beautiful post. OP faced with the challenge of being a new TH, meets the challenge head on and progresses nicely, brushes off the pain of massive defense losses and channels that into strategizing how to lessen the blow. Kudos to you and your positive attitude.

Now on to your question. Personally, I would go for the xbow, it may just pay dividends in making it just a little harder to lose defenses (especially balloonion). That's just my preference. I used to criticize .5 as a strategy, but now that multiplayer takes base strength into the equation, it's looking attractive. I'll let others who have more experience speak to it though.

IMO, definitely go for the X-bows. Whatever minor advantage 8.5 might give you in war match ups can't compare to the defensive boost the X-bows will provide. The initial damage isn't great, but they make up for it with range. Leaving all that aside, it is definitely better to spend the gold than it is to hoard it, at least for now.

they are hands-down the best defense outside of single-target infernos against archer queen and you'll want them asap. but be wary of upgrading them straight to lvl3, lvl 3 x bows in war=war weight is a near max th9.

maybe leave upgrading them until later on if you are worried about war weight.

if you are wanting to up you heroes asap you may want to think about putting them both to sleep together early on, just a thought, enjoy your shiny new toy 😎

Thanks for all the great replies, I see the general concensus is building the X-bows, which brings me to another question: One or both? Obviously thinking of th 8.5 means I'm concerned about war weight, and with that in mind is there any advantage to not building both? Each one has a massive defensive bonus, but does war weight calculation outweigh that bonus with both?

When I first went th9 I built both of my X-bows right away, and it didn't seem to have much impact on our war match ups. I was paired with maxed th8s as often as early th9s. Congrats btw, good luck and happy clashing!

check out how much loot is available in your war map on the th9s v their defences, you can draw your own conclusions from there

Xbows indeed.
As a TH9 you shouldn't keep stockpiles of loot since some TH10 or TH11 will just bully you and take your stuff

If you started working on your war troops, no point to be .5 TH.

You clan wanted to have another max TH9 instead of max TH8.5

X-bows has 3 levels for you in TH9 as well. Will be a long while to max them
