Come on OP. You can do better than that. Tell us what you really think...

Most casual players lived off of collectors, stayed shielded when they had one, left their TH out to be sniped so they didn't lose loot, and sniped THs in crystal+ to gain loot with an occasional real raid. A lot would only play war. Log on, make war attacks, disappear for two days. I have no problem with people not being able to progress to end game using this style.

This is a farming/grinding game, you should have to put in the time to advance in it. You can still be a very casual player and easily make it to th9 without ever spending a dime. Eventually you hit a wall where you either need to spend money, or put some time in. I like that.

Nah. Progress playing that way was slow enough as it was. Hardcore players and gemmers were hitting th10 within a year. Casuals were looking at 2.5 just to get there, and another 2.5 to max. I think that was fair. But to change it 3 years in to make it so a play style many people have been playing for years is essentially killed, and tell those people they need to change? That's a fools move.

Simply put, you misunderstand what it is to be a casual player. Casual doesn't mean lackadaisical. Its very definition means irregular. It means we play on bathroom breaks. We play while the kids wait for the school bus. We play in doctors' waiting rooms. We play when the boss is on a phone call. We play after the kids are asleep and before our heads hit the pillow. We play any time we can squeeze it into our busy schedules between other things going on. It's rare for us to boost barracks and go on long raiding sessions. We get in, do what we need, and get out - maybe dozens of times a day. PBT, long troop cook times, depleted clan castles, damaged heroes, and irregular shields throw a wrench into those plans.

I've had many times since the update when I can't play when I'm ready because my clan castle is empty and my heroes are down. It's annoying when I miss that window, especially when I need to empty my camps to prepare a war army, but the troubling aspect is not the annoyance - it's how it has affected my game play. I wake up and can't attack before work, so I don't try any more. Rather than get stuck with a raid army I can't use, I just cook a war army and sit on it. I ride out every shield to its fullest and, most often, let one lapse and another begin without ever having attacked. So many of these small moments between doing other things are wasted that I've been finding other uses for my time, including posting on the forum. I haven't found a new game that fills the void the Clash has left, but if I should, what's the likelihood I'll continue to play Clash at all? Wouldn't it be more likely that the game that fits into all the small breaks in my life will get all my attention and my money? I don't consider myself unique and from the posts here and from comments by friends, I know I'm definitely not alone. There are vast amounts of people who are playing less and less and actively looking for something to fill the void. I can't see how that's a good thing for the game.

Said perfectly. I'll keep browsing the game store looking for a new game that works with my unpredictable schedule like clash used to. Till then, I'll hang on the forum.

    Great post Sharky.

i rarely lurked on the boards here pre-update. Now since gameplay and clan activity has ground to a halt, I like to come here to read the insults the few people on the pro side have for us fake Chiefs.

I imagine SC treated its focus groups the same way. No likely? Here's your plane ticket home.
