Whether or not you agree with the new update parameters, this is something that we, and specially Supercell, should be concern of.
We can all agree that the new update is very complicated; Shield system, dubious matchmaking, disasters at the CW matchmaking, etc.. What keeps alive this game is the gemming community (People who buy gems), but new players are also an important aspect to take into account.
What i'm afraid of, is that the game itself is getting more and more complicated even for veteran players, and it's creating a huge disadvantage between the people who gem and the people who don't (I'm not going to emphasize on that one, because I would take away your time.). It's not that gemming is bad, it's what keeps the game alive and competitive rankings active after all, but when you expand that space between the gemmers and the normal players, you might break something in between.
New players, are usually guys who are curious of the game; a free appealing strategy game with a lot of popularity. As they progress in the game, they face some challenges, like defending their bases, upgrading their troops and defenses, storages, etc. Doing this, it's already difficult, but with the update, where stronger bases can constantly abuse of the shield system and boosting, it's not just annoying but extremely difficult to 'farm' or maintain a decent loot.
As the number of new players decrease, and the number of old players decreases as well, this game might not even make it by the end of 2016 if left as it is.
