Posted in feedback, but thought I would create a thread as well since the feedback thread has 800+ pages consisting of a lot of bickering and angry lashing out.
I go through stretches where life is busy and I can only log in 1-2 times a day to attack. There is no possibility of saving up loot for a moderately expensive upgrade doing that now. There are multiple people in my clan who only play for war and relied on the loot in the collectors to eventually save up for an upgrade here and there. That is absolutely dead now. I know several people who just logged in a couple times a day to collect loot and maybe attack here and there. They enjoyed farming up their base that way even though it was slow going. They have already quit.
I was curious so I pushed up to masters and with the addition of being able to attack through a shield multiple times it does seem like the loot is better than before, IF and only IF you have the time to attack many times per day. If you are logging in once in the morning before work and 1-2 times after work to attack like I usually am, the net loot for the day right now is absolutely negative once you get to 2-3 million gold or elixir. Yes this update was good for hardcore players in the short term, but it has killed clash for casual players and while you hardcore guys might not care about that now, without a large player base longer term Clash is dead for everyone.
I absolutely think removing TH sniping was a good idea. I completely agree it was a detriment to a game that was supposed to be about attacking and defending. The problem is Supercell did not address the reason the majority of people were doing it. I liked idea behind most of the changes in the update, bugs aside. The one change that has absolutely had the biggest negative impact is their insane decision to remove dead bases sooner. I know some insist that is not true and say they see them all the time, and I'm aware this was not officially acknowledged as part of the update. I spent a little time doing some searching and see some people posting screenshots of their defense logs from an inactive account showing attacks stopping after 4-5 days. Combine that with my own personal experience of seeing probably a grand total of 4 bases with moderately full collectors since the update, compare it with pre-update seeing multiple each time I would log in and start searching and it seems pretty obvious that is what happened.
The decision to remove dead bases, especially at the same time as removing TH sniping seems deeply stupid or incredibly greedy. Considering the great game they produced I don't believe for one second Supercell is that stupid leaving me with no other explanation than greed. Then I see that Supercell was bought out by another company a short while before the update. I honestly don't know what to think other than Softbank bought Clash and decided to try and increase revenue. There is a huge amount of feedback from people on the forums and on Youtube, etc who are thinking the same way I am about this. This needs to be addressed in some way by Supercell as that just leads to people becoming bitter and leaving the game.
I am sure Supercell wants to fix this mess and make people happy again. My thoughts for Supercell while they are looking for a fix is please consider that not everyone, and I would argue the vast majority of clashers, are not hardcore players who can log in and attack on an hourly basis.
My best thoughts as to how that can be addressed are first, reverse the decision to remove dead bases sooner and bring back that source of loot. Second, drastically reduce the amount of loot that can be stolen from a base and offset that by drastically increasing the win bonus. Despite the claims that were made pre-update in sneak peeks, the 10% we already saw is not a drastic increase. You can still encourage skilled attacks over mindless barching by continuing to award the bonus as a % based off the damage done during the attack. The other problem this would solve is having to hit next for half an hour to find a base that can be attacked with a reasonable army that also has enough loot to be worthwhile, which is another big problem for casual players. If I could log in for 5 minutes during the day and make a quick attack and log back off I probably would attack more. Right now with the amount of time it takes to find a reasonable base that is incredibly unlikely. A final option would be to drastically reduce troop training costs so a decent army can be trained without costing so much as to make it pointless to even bother.
No I am not going to quit just yet, though it may get to that point eventually. I am however enjoying the game much less than I was pre-update, and I am most certainly not spending a dime on gems right now. It seems there are many who feel the same way right now, so please Supercell, address these problems and do it quickly.
