this update reminds me of the time netflix announced stoppage of their mailing service and the stock proceeded to get sawed in half in after hours trading and the day following. result? ceo apologizes and renegs on the idea. stock returns back to normal.
this update is simply the worst business move i can think of in the past 5 yrs. period. what cash cow product has been changed this dramatically overnight with seemingly no thought to the impact it would have on its well established core consumer base and community?
the problem is, i have no idea how revenues were impacted if at all. id like to think the company is feeling where it matters but perhaps there was even an uptick? perhaps higher than that? so the update may seem like a horrible idea but in the long run the company may easily be able to justify it with the economics.
point is, no matter how much we rant and whine and post on the forums..... the only thing that matters is the impact on the bottom line. if you really want to make your voice heard, hit their pockets. spend less, play less and share your distaste virally in the real world (not just the forums) and hope for the best.
my plans is to let my base rot and spread the gospel to all gamers that i know. if i dont hear of any changes within a month or so then at that pt it will be easy for me to walk away. seemless transition.
