Also the bases that have higher loot tend to be more maxxed bases. So using a cheap army may only yield a small profit. You basically have to build bigger war armies, which also take a longer time to build. (which seems to encourage less playing of their own game).
You may profit on DE and Gold using large elixir war armies, or on Gold and Elixir using large DE armies, but usually one of either DE or Elixir you could be taking a 'loss' on.

Currently we have 1 gem boosts which is a bandaid solution that is making bases look more loot-rich. The 1 gem boost was a happy coincidence from SC perspective, since usually something similar to it is given around Christmas time regardless of updates.

DE currently seems better because of all the availability from players being unshielded, and by not having a loot dump option (such as walls) for DE. Elixir is what will become more and more difficult to balance.

I agree, there is a ton of available loot out there. It seems every base I see has a minimum of 300k each. But when I attack and average 60% 2 star I get about 180k plus league bonus. Which still puts my elixir profits in the negative or equal. Been a week and a half trying to get 3 million elixir to upgrade warden. Still only have 2 million after donation costs for wars and regular CC's

I am so frustrated with the economy it is ridiculous! It'll be a month before I can upgrade laboratory unless I become selfish and don't help out my clan mates and just leech off of them.

You mean you haven't given up war yet? Progress or war, your choice. Same with making things to give out. I have a maxed th8 feeder in a level 5+ clan, and he stocks dragons, balloons, and wizards. He's my donator. This is my adapting, complete withdrawal from all social aspects of the game, which is very dangerous as the social aspects are what keep people playing.

As I wrote, saying there is no loot is a lie. They see loot everywhere but the TH and dead bases they used to live on are gone so they don't like that. When they say no loot it means "no loot for skilless attackers".
