Here is what I think happened when SC implemented the various changes to the economy. I think they were not necessarily untruthful, they just didnt expect that removing one element, such as TH snipes, would be as big as they envisioned it to be

They know exactly how TH snipes affect the economy. The CoC economy is not that complicated. They also knew that many people rely on only snipes and dead bases. They probably didn't realize the level of whines from these people.
You would think people playing a war game would want to actually attack but no, many can only brainlessly next looking for something with no defense.

I'm all for an economy boost for CoC because it wouldn't hurt anything and it would please some of the people against the update. But the people who try to claim that there is no more loot at all, are false and are just unlucky I guess. There is loot out there and it is enough to make more than you lose.
