I have played this game for 2 1/2 years. I have Seen many updates making the game better, and some make it worse. But eventually they have fixed things and restored balance.
I have played few games where developers listens as much to the community as coc and many ideas that originated from you - the community, have been implemented along the years. But you have to remember supercell is a company, trying to maximize profits. They look for ways to earn money all the time, dont kid yourself its pure capitalism.
you know a great Way to ruin any business? Dont keep in touch with your customers. Lose touch with the customers and you lose profit. Simple as that.
supercell has loads of smart people Working there, really clever people that knows how to make money and how to lose money.
they KNOW Right now they screwed up, but wont admit because some Will see that as a weakness and they have to Roll back the Whole shielding thing. They wont do that. But somehow, like they have Always done they Will balance it out again.
some Will say they only Care about the Whales - the Big time spenders. The top 1% gemmers. That is not correct. They know that US casuals is essentially "content" for the whales. Without "content" for the Whales they eventually leave. Supercell is Well aware of this synergy between Whales and casuals.
what we are experincing in the game Right now is a kind of giant beta test run where they see just how much they Can squezze out of those Willing to Pay and of course they set the elixir gain from normal farming low because its Always better to start of giving a little and Then scale up, than it is giving people much and Then scaling Down afterwards.
Its not a coincidence the Update Came out when it did. It Got out now because of two main factors
1. X-mas = profit
2. They Can test run the Update and Then later some time in Early january they Can fix it, claiming the holidays keept Them from making changes. But they have Seen the uproar and Will listen bla bla bla (usual PR NONSENSE)
mark my words - balance Will come (after the spenders have spent gems to keep progressing in the same pace as before)
