Zambia is a poor African country that had a windfall of cash from natural resources. Then there was a presendential election with one candidate saying the cash would be spent on putting food on the table and making everyone better off, the second candidate has a more prudent policy and wanted to invest more in industry. Because it was democratic, the first person was voted in and people got short-run benefit at the cost of long-run development. Luckily SC isn't a democracy.

No its more like buying a burger then going down to sit at a table. One bite into the burger an employee comes to your table and says excuse me, while he quickly removes the lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, onions, and cheese. Then looks to you and says enjoy. You complain but all he says is learn to eat your burger better.

'Closing down sale, Everything must go'

That's when we should get worried about the future of the game - when every attempt to squeeze gems out of us comes

'Clash of cash' and all the other comments about SCs greed...from the Gem spending habits I've witnessed, they've merely taken away all sale items and bargains and left the premium prices (those who gem their loot)

Only the same folk who bought things at the premium price will continue to spend that....everyone else is waiting for the sales to come and boosting etc to be worthwhile
Thanks for the reply Chris. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you in the jay-update-camp? Because the analogy you made looks to contain some critisism on the update. Not that you're not allowed of course, but it felt a bit out of place. Could be also that I maybe read the analogy wrong.

Any way keep it up, people.

Allright, if I understand this analogy correctly, you mean that even though a lot of people are complaining about the update, the majority of people are not Always right and SC knows better than the people what's best for them (i.e. the update)? Am I right? Just curious, not trying to attack here, or anything.

    Very good analogy!

The drug (Viagra aka TH sniping) soon becomes approved for that use and the drug becomes extremely popular, making Pfizer billions of dollars. A few years down the road, Pfizer says, "You know what? We never intended for this drug to be used to treat ED. This drug was intended to treat Hypertension. That's how it is SUPPOSED to be used. So....from now on we are no longer allowing it to be used as it was not originally intended, so only prescriptions for hypertension will be filled from this point on....

See where I'm going? It would be absolute lunacy for a drug company to do this, but this is essentially what Supercell has done. What Supercell has failed to see that though not originally intended to be played that way, the option to TH snipe/get free shields/etc. was actually what made this game so popular and successful. They have "killed the golden goose" all in the name of idealism. Sad and unfortunate...and completely unnecessary. Unless they act quickly, this game may never recover.
This is excellent analogy. Completely correct in my opinion.

    basically yes
People chase short-run benefit and will attack anything that is disadvantageous to them as a player even if the change was good for the game as a whole.

Also industrialisation comes with growing pains, and SC would need to make adjustments to account for that. The analogy is quite accurate and within it you can account for both sides

Thanks for the explanation, Genos. Fair enough and good analogy, even though I may not fully agree.

My children are very good at hiding in their rooms doing their own thing, and often don't hear my calls to dinner. (Due to excessive noise, music, headphones).

One day, I decided to stop repeatedly calling, or dragging my creaky joints up the stairs to retrieve them.

The table was still laden with food, but rather than use any initiative or expend any effort, they chose to sit there whining and starve to death.

(Slight exaggeration, but to a very small extent it's how I feel. I neglected to mention there was marginally less food on the table, as couldn't find a good story mechanic for it).

Thanks for the analogy, Superfinch. This one I understood immediately
