The main reason is that Supercell somwhow removed abandoned villages. Of course they did not tell us, but this is why we are having trouble finding loot.
However reading this forum it seems that the problem will solve itself without further Supercell measures...

lot of people are not playing anymore, WAY less league bonuses which was a large amount of resources for all. Its just a domino effect of a garbage update.
everything in this update is to slow people down in progress, less loot gained, more loot lost, less progress (more gems ??!!?)
