If you're not profiting where you are and aren't getting attacked then perhaps going up in leagues will give you better loot offers, allow you to get a shield, and attack through that shield. I attack through the shield to yield more resources than I was raided for.
I have 3 clans under my wing, no league offers good loot. I am not going up in trophies with my beginning TH10, just so developed Th10s can take everything. My tactic now is to sit it out until SC fixes the problem. I never needed a shield and think removing sniping is a good thing.

Dividing elixir over 5 points in 1 base is just too much for cheap armies. (which makes profit)

I strongly suggest SC give an shield to anyone that is attacked by more than 50% of an army. This way, when inactive players come back in the pool they have good loot to offer. It is almost the same as sniping, only you actually have to defend instead of getting sniped.
I used to have fun with emotes.

In general, if attacks against you aren't reaching 30% its because the armies are weak and/or the attacker bad. By moving up in league, you'll encounter folks that will grant you a shield more regularly and prevent you from being nickel and dimed to death

I barely get attacked where I am now. Sometimes, just sometimes someone get 30%, If I want to attack I'll just eat my shield, don't care about it. I do not want it.

Btw, my collectors are inside my base and I don't get attacked while sleeping without a shield. There is just no point for me moving up.

And for that reason, a rushed th10 base with th6 defenses will be seen by other th10 and th11 bases. And that is fair and right. Dropping to bronze will not hide that base and it should not.

So what I would focus on is upgrading defenses, not rushing at all, not manipulating clan wars, good base design, and good farming practices.

    my 2 cents.
Good points, I'll try and incorporate this into the guide. Thank you.

Yeah... it isn't working buddy. I signed off for a 2 hr nap a few days ago. When I signed back on the game told me my villagers needed a rest. I think supercell is having a lot of trouble figuring out when a player is actually on OR they are not reporting all failed attacks to the players. Something is going on. If you haven't experienced it great... but a lot more of us have experienced it than those of you claiming you never have.

In my experience thus far I have found loot fairly easy to come by. My idea of 'good' loot is anything over 200k for gold or elixir and anything over 1500 DE.

When I separate my loot into different areas of my base it has seemed to minimize my losses opposed to having it all in the same place which allows attackers to focus on getting to that single compartment.

What exactly are you waiting for SC to fix?

Are you wanting a shield or not? It sounds like you don't want one and don't feel like that's a bad thing either. If that's the case and you're content then sounds like you're in the right spot.

I can only speak to how the system is supposed to work. If you're having issues and feel that it is a bug then I would suggest you report it in this forum.

If you're not getting attacked, that's not really a problem per se, although you may find you bump into the PBT more frequently. But if you can farm comfortably where you are while not fielding attacks, stay there.

Now, if you can't find good loot there, you may have to consider moving up to find bigger targets, but this may result in you getting attacked more and taking the occasional loss. At the end of the day, you're going to have to find a range that's comfortable for YOU and your playstyle.

    Very smart move.

Only now it is divided 5 ways instead of the old 4 ways. When I raid and get 3 elixir storages with my barch (for example) I only get 3/5 instead of 3/4. To compare: 200k available, divided 5 ways is 40k per storage. Divided 4 ways is 50k per storage. 20% vs 25% or total 60% vs 75% or 120k vs 150k. It is the golden line what is profitable to get or not.

    Available elixir, PBT.

If you're never getting attacked and you never get a shield then the PBT is more likely to kick in while playing.
I get punished by PBT because I have good defenses and a smart layout. It hinders my interaction with my clanmates, for me the most important thing about clash. Having a laugh and doing wars together.

    edit:
In my experience thus far I have found loot fairly easy to come by. My idea of 'good' loot is anything over 200k for gold or elixir and anything over 1500 DE.
How much does your army cost?
