I can update but cannot open
It will just load black screen and return to home page

I was having similar issues. Went to download the new update and it just kept saying open or Uninstall. I completely Uninstalled clash and reinstalled had the same issue. I went to my settings, apps, then to Google play store and cleared cache and then cleared data and reinstalled the game again. Now it's saying the servers are under matenance again...hopefully will be fixed soon!!!

I uninstalled the Clash of Clans app because i couldnt upgrade it, but now play store says i cant download Clash anymore because my mobile phone isnt compatible(i have an LG G2).Help me please guys

Yea, like many have already pointed out, clear the Google Playstore cache. That'll nail it for most of you. I am in.

I have the same problem! I have been playing the game on my Samsung Tab 4 for more than a year and now it says the new version is not compatible with my device!!!
