9.5s building infernos during prep and canceling on war day

I'm tired of getting matched up fairly then the enemy clan builds 1 or 2 infernos on their 9.5s dueing prep day then cancels on war day so they can do it again. How about locking in the defense your war weight is calculated on. It will end people "gaming" the system. Sounds like a pretty simple fix to implement.

An inferno costs like 5 million gold and the person loses 1/2 that gold if they cancel. So a person doing this "trick" will lose 2.5MG on 1 or 5MG on 2, PER WAR, just to maybe get a slight advantage. That sounds like a real stretch and it will never be a widespread problem because it's such a waste of gold.

    Sounds interesting.

    Thank you for the idea!

Sounds nice on paper, but this would mean always having defense levels not truly reflecting defense levels (ex. upgrading 2 lavas before war day), and that'd therefore be hard to incorporate. So, I don't see this happening.

Why not. The defense you add after the search is not calculated in the base weight. If you want to update something, do it before the search or use it in the next war.

I'm not sure what level your clan is or how advanced your town halls are, but at the highest levels of this game, this is a very common practice. If you do 1 inferno, you lose 2.5 million gold. That is only a few hours of farming. When you match up against 200+ win L9 clan, "tricks" like this are expected.

I like it. Fairly common exploit. Easy fix. A bit of gold is nothing compared to protecting the win streak. See this maybe every 3-5 wars id say. Hasn't really been an issue for us, but if it was the deciding factor in a close war id be gutted. Probably more common is gemming hero levels when you match up in arranged wars. Same fix though.

How does cancelling your inferno builds help you at all? Wouldn't it make you outmatched? I fail to understand the use of that

You get your matchup and then during prep day, put infernos down. Then once battle day starts, bases are locked and you are free to cancel them, ready to repeat next war.

Build ITs when prep day starts, and knock em down when battle day starts.
