I posted a similar thread in Problems & Bugs (Here) and it was suggested I post in this forum as well.
As it currently stands, when the Clan Leader leaves the clan, his (or her) role is automatically (as I've been told) pushed to the co-leader who has been in the clan longest. I understand the reasoning behind this, but don't agree with it. Here's why:
As a Clan Leader who respects my co-leaders, I do not kick, boot, or demote them without just cause. I know and trust all my co-leaders (some on a personal level), as many of you clan leaders do. This does not, however, mean that I can contact them all at any given time. There are times where co-leaders go on vacation/holiday; co-leaders may be on active duty in the military; or they could just be taking a break from Clash of Clans for personal reasons. Point being that a clan leader is not always in touch with his (or her) co-leaders at every moment.
Additionally, as a clan with multiple sister clans, our co-leaders are constantly moving about for wars and other reasons. So, as they leave the co-leader with the longest time in clan changes to the next person, and the next, and the next. This means that any one of my co-leaders could be next in charge and I would never know who that is on any given day. Today it could be Jason, tomorrow it could be Dave. This adds a level of uncertainty to the game that causes more problems than it fixes.
Yes, I could assign the new Leader before I leave. And when I am fully aware that I'm moving the Leader out of the clan, I do that. However, stuff happens, mistakes are made, and poof, I've accidentally moved the wrong account out of the clan. This just happened to me for the 1st time in 2 years of Clashing, but I'm sure it's happened to others. Or am I wrong?
What I'm proposing is a simple safety net (a backup safety net, if you will, just for the Leader), a list of Co-Leaders on the Leader's "Leave" screen. This list would allow the Leader to aptly choose his replacement, as long as there are other co-leaders in the clan. If there are no other co-leaders, but there are still members/elders, then the Leader would be forced to abort the "Leave" screen. This way he (or she) could promote an elder to co-leader and try again. If, however, there are no other members in the clan (Leader makes 1), then the clan would be automatically closed.
Thanks!
