    Alternative TH Sniping

    Instead of Townhall sniping won't people just create their bases so they can take 50% damage to gain a 14 hour shield. I tested out a base design where I heavily guarded my storages and town hall and put the rest on one side. I've had 4 defenses at 50-80%. I'm sure a lot of people will just switch to this.

    Trash buildings act as buffers to promote bad pathing. Throwing everything outside will likely bunch your defences up for giant/golem attacks to tear you up.

    That being said, bases will switch to offering more easy buildings than before for the shield reason. But people still need hog/golem/giant rings.

    This has been talked about so many times it's not even funny. No it wont work because of they need to use 1/3 of their army. Please mods move this to a Sneak Peek thread. General is getting annoying seeing the same threads over the same issue already discussed.

    Ok, so stick a few defenses mixed with the trash to force a decent army. Of course you will get 3 starred occasionally, but even if helps 25% of the time it's worth it.

    Most people won't waste their time and a third of an army for that.

    If you have a good amount of loot I will still take it all. If your town hall is outside now it doesn't help anyone I come across cause I don't snipe. Everyone with loot just prays for a th snipe instead of me rolling around, but I live in low leagues anyway where the loot is fresh and more frequent because there is a lack of town hall snipes in silver/gold leagues.

    Here's the problem with all of these types of ideas to this point...there are far more casual players than hardcore players. I probably land higher than casual, let me give an example of how a lot of people I know play the game now, and will play it in the future even more.

    I build my army, it's not built to snipe, it's built to raid storages.
    I see your base, I could get 50% of your worthless buildings, or a I could Next, or I could full on attack you.
    If I get 50% of your worthless buildings I get a little league bonus, but then I have to either wait for my army to rebuild or I have to logoff and come back later (not worth it).

    Here's the thing people don't seem to understand, the TH snipe offered something attractive to the attacker. They could snipe, go back to their base, and just search again right away. It was basically a free league bonus for nothing. Putting out 50% means I have to either use a few small troops (in which case you get no shield), or I have to deploy 1/3 of my army to benefit you. Where's my benefit? Almost nobody cares about trophies, and the league bonuses aren't so great that it's worth 1/3 of my army to get it and then wait while my troops cook again.

    You're failing to provide any real advantage to the attacker in order to get your cheap shield. All you're really doing is making it easier to raid your storages with all these spread out buildings and discombobulated defenses.

    The key to TH snipes was not the cheap shield the defender gets, it was the benefit to the attacker to do it and move on. A new approach that benefits only the defender won't take hold, it has to benefit the attacker in a real and meaningful way.

    I'd gladly waste 75 archers or barbs for my bonus of 180k/180k/1.2k DE

    Getting a defensive win and losing loot is going to be very hard to swallow. I imagine a lot of people making their base easily raidable with 75-100 troops to at least 50%. I will for sure.

    What league are you in? I get 1,200 DE bonus for a win. If I could get those consistently I would just keep archers training non-stop.

    I can tell you this. Right now , before update. I am sitting in high silver, dont really offer much loot, and i am going on 10 hours without an attack on my base. Just login once an hour or so, collect the collectors, let it go....

    I am thinking the update will only further dissuade people from attacking, as the league bonuses (at higher level) offered a lot or compensation for a high cost army. After update, will anyone really even then want to attack bases with no loot, facing the possibility of only getting 50% of league bonus??

    Right now loot itself is pretty bad in Masters, becuase people are too acitve and always building. The removal of league bonuses will only make attacking even less attractive....prepare for lots and lots of nexting..
