I don't understand all the complaints honestly. What appears to be going over the majority's head is that you still get a shield easy, it just takes 30% of damage with at least 50% of enemy troops expended.This means you will still get a shield with your typical barch attack most of the time. For those complaining that now that will lead to more storage raids and will make saving harder, DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT YOU MAY NOW ATTACK THROUGH THAT SHIELD? With a simple 12 hour shield and the cost of shield time with each attack, that now means you have 3 powerful attacks you may build up and use within that time-frame with consideration to the cost of shield time per attack.
That is more then enough to get back your lost resources and then some. And to add on to in, you now have a village guard that will enable you to strategically shield yourself for whatever reason
ex: waiting for army to build, protect war cc troops, binge for last resources needed for upgrade
Like last updates change to lightning spell and storage shield which eliminated cheap loot, Supercell is now eliminating cheap shields. This game is about BOTH offense and defense. So you should expect to be hit hard sometimes and not rely on free shields
