My colleagues and I have been discussing together about the name changing option. It's probably one of the best things that has been brought to the Clash of Clans Community. Although I think we should be able to change our names more than once. My idea is obviously the first name change is "free" but most people like their new name at first, but later on they want to change it to something better. I think we should be able to change our name more than once but costs a fee like gold, elixir, or even gems. I think this will be better for the community and make clashers stress less when changing their names.
I don't want Clashers to be able to change their names like they change their shirts. It's confusing for fellow clan mates and it enables those that want to sell accounts (since they can take possession of a new account and change their name to their desired one)
It can also be used far too easily to troll people, such as changing their names to the name of their war rival leader and try to pretend to be an alternate account.
General trolling in Global would become a pandemic.
I was never a fan of the first name change, from when it was just a suggestion, a leaked sneak peek, an actual sneak peek, an update, half the clan changing their names over night.... and now floods of complaints on the forum about how their Dog not only ate their homework but somehow typed CONFIRMED when changing their name to DogWasHere.
The only way I think it would be fairly acceptable is if it costs a significant amount of gems. Starting at at least 2500 to be realistic and progressively gets expensive each time you use it. Perhaps by blocks of 2500 gems.
That way, even for F2P users, they can decide to use their free, accumulated gems for either a 5th builder or a 2nd name change. And it's cost prohibitive enough that no one is going to do it for laughs just to ruffle peoples feathers in Global. Unless you're a rich troll, in which case, at least they're contributing to keeping the servers running.
SC has already stated that they will limit the name change option to one time only due to account security reasons. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
