To avoid losing as much de upgrade your storage giving it a few more hit points. It helps a little but if you really want to avoid it go to 1800+

But furthermore, players with higher trophies are less likely to throw them away for a cheap lightning DE raid. They are more likely to go for the whole lot - at least you'll get a shield that way.
