    Combined Clan Chat

Have you ever been in a clan where there are sister/brother/feeder clans? Or possibly a huge system of clans like RWCS? Well I was thinking what if you could have a 3rd chat where clans could have combined chats? Let me know what you think. :-) -Alan

In order for this to even occur we would need a system that involves easy transfer between sister/feeder clans. We need to take that step first in order to get to this step. My personal opinion on this idea is I believe chats should only be within one clan and if you want to talk with your sister/feeder clan you should have to go over there. There is a big thread of the idea of Fast transfer between sister clans. You can check it out by clicking here.

Not sure why you think that this idea requires fast transfer...

Maybe I am quite content in my current clan and want to monitor or even be involved in whats going on across these clans... Maybe I am leader of all these clans and see something bad going on in a sister clan and want to boot a player from where I am.

Frankly, I have wanted an implementation of "sister" clans for at least 2 of the 3 years I have played this game. Its been a Sticky request forever.

Every time I see someone's thread that tries "designing" a solution it seems ridiculously over designed. The thread you reference IMO is a great example.

I suspect what happens is people have a number of changes they want so they try and package them all up together like its a single request... of course it helps if you can bootstrap off of a commonly requested idea too.

I requested that person to view that thread because it is the most popular and formal thread for this idea. I never stated it did not contain any flaws. Yes I agree with you as my clan does have a family clan and we also wish their was an easier way for us to ccmmunicate besides an outside application or going to their clan. Like I stated before in my previous post, we would need a way to transfer between the two. I do not think that the idea of having another chat with your current clan chat is logical and here's why.

    People will want to:

    • Start donating in the other chat
    • see how wars are going
    • have power within the other chat
-Ex: Some drama starts happening over in the other clan/chat, current elder will want to be able to kick

Then there are also other issues such as:

    • How many chats are possible? Some clans have 3+ sister/feeder clans
    • Will new clan members be able to use the extra chats?
    • Is the extra chat the same chat as the other clan or is it a brand new chat?

The main issue here is the amount of sister/feeder clans some clans have. I don't think people would want a ton of chat windows. I understand your regards in wanting to keep control within all your clans but this actually seems like too much. I do believe that another chat window for communications with a sister clan is a fast way /transfer between two clans.

Well I don't particularly see most of the things you cite as really problems... of course people will want all kinds of things (they are annoying that way).

But if I am going to play designer for a minute... I simply envision a SINGLE combined chat tab where chat across all sister clans are funneled and command and control is centralized.

I think being elder or coleader would apply across all clans because [presumably] these people are trusted in these roles (but it does not have to be that way). Leaders in each clan is a bit of something to be figured out - I do think clans need to remain autonomous units that can be easily separated. The idea of supreme leader to govern them all has been floated and seems reasonable.

The depth to which things like donating and looking at wars is something for supercell to decide but it does not have to be part of a solution - which is kind of my point - all this other stuff should remain separate.

Of all your points... the only real issue I see is server load and how many users is too many for a single chat window.

Im sure supercell has good experience with how many people can be put in a Global session and could limit the number of sister clans combined as is needed.

Looking over how you are viewing this how would this be different than a clan with 100 people? Besides not being able to start wars with the other clan members within other clans. That would just be 2 clans full. Imagine 3 or 4 full clans. How would you tell who is from which clan if there is more than 2 clans? If it was my prerogative, I would most certainly try to establish an idea that would make the communications of more than one clan less complex than this. In your opinion, do you believe a single chat window for more than one clan (sister/feeder) is the best solution regarding sister/feeder clan communications?

    1. Well of course it is very similar to having larger clans - and I am not necessarily against that idea either however I do think that 50 is a good number for group of players playing under a particular theme. - for example War focused versus another clan for Farming focus (but under a single management).

    2. Who is from what clan? Interesting question - but I am sure not insurmountable through some kind of visual queue in the AI.

    3. Do I believe its a good idea for more than one clan... well obviously I do.

*UPDATE - but regarding point 3 - clearly this idea has scaling limits but unless you work for Supercell or have experience coding online chat oriented games its all speculation as to how far - and whether it would meet expectations.
