As a result I see many are sticking to a gowipe crutch because they don't want the red line in their war log. Most of clan is well developed th8, th9 and new th9s. Any reasonable suggestions on how to change this culture without setting fire to the clan would be very much appreciated.
Have your lower th 9s hit the high ones for the 2 star gowipe which can free up your high nines with higher heros to go for the slightly easier 9s until they get the hang of the 3 star strats can help get more stars overall, while having a bit of a buffer for practice. another idea is designate one of your weekly wars to practice, ie weekend wars practice strategies

Practice wars, practice pushing. All these things help.

The thing is: It isn't actually easy to get 3 stars all the time. If you watch the youtube videos, it looks easy, but it is hard. The placement is tricky, the pathing is important and the timing is key.

I flubbed an attack that should have been an easy 3 star Lavaloon. I planned a brilliant attack and dropped my loons in such a way that they
    a) took out the defences in the wrong order and
    b) cut off the carefully planned path to the air defence and
    c) then moved directly into the carefully avoided path of the sweeper.

    1 star.

But I know that 3 stars are important so I keep doing the 3 star attacks and I recognise that sometimes I am going fall on my face and look like an idiot. The next attack was a 3 and we won that war. I think it helps to accept that people will look like idiots at times. Just as long as people are working at improving.

The other thing is to recognise that as the clan gets stronger, your tactics must change and improve.

(And surgical hog dude, just go away. The game is actually difficult. That's why I keep playing it!)

^^^ This, leading by example. I have consistently 3 starring TH9 bases and 2 starring TH10 base in CW lately, and it's somehow motivated rest of my clanmates to get better in CW too. They wouldn't hesitate to ask for your advices and you know what, the greatest feeling was when they could finally 3 star bases at the end.. ^^

We did it a number of months ago. Still painful some wars, but we have some excellent attackers now.

My advice is little bits of crazy for those stuck in the gowipe rut.
Start by swapping one pekka for back end loons.
    Swap pekka for witches
Swap loons for hogs (once they can logowipe/logowiwi)

Those that want to gowipe still should be allowed to so so, but then they should hit high.

Encourage clan mates to watch 3 star attack videos.
Encourage them all to develop their own attacking style

Let me speak my mind here from the learner's side first, if you don't mind:

I at first hated war, thought it was dumb, I'm a farmer, etc. Stupid reasons now, IMO. Loot is very beneficial, but I was the worst at war. So now, what has happened was that I was taught to use the same army both attacks for practice. I have been doing 5 wars, and went from getting a total of 3 stars per war to just now today getting 6/6 with lavaloonion. If it weren't for my clan mates, I would be terrible and hate war still.

    Now my advice:
Get your 3 star members to teach your 2 star members their strategy. Trust me, before war I hated lavaloonion and then now today, it's a different story. I would use it to farm gold. Anyways, teach your 2 star members your 3 star armies, and walk them thru. If one fails, have them watch the replay (even if it's fast forwarded) and that should help them with where not to attack, because it will get to a certain point where it will get a little ugly in some spots. Then hopefully after a couple wars, they should pick it up more and more. Tell them to do practice in random multiplayer attacks. Just let them know to practice on one they think they can 3 star. Also, a big help is SHARE REPLAYS!!!! Show a replay or 2 from your 3 star players. Once they start doing 3 star war attacks, and your main 3 star war people are doing other attacks, do the same process with that new attack.
Another option if you have die hard clashes that like war, simply do the above process with one attack and have them learn another attack on their own- just not during war attacks. Have them watch many YouTube videos and practice against other random league players.

Good luck, and if you need more info or help. Let me know.

There have been some good suggestions posted. Going for 3 stars starts with a few players who string them together repeatedly. Start a chat group outside the game and post good videos there. Make it fun!

start using backend hogs or loons for gowiwi or gowipe atks...start with 8-10 pcs of them...once you get the hang of it then go for the 3star strats...

most of the time a gowiwipe or gowiwi with backend hogs is enough for 3stars for online bases that you'd commonly face.

I went through this with my old clan as well. Ultimately what we ended up doing was leaving. There was simply too much of a hump to get over and there was a split within the clan. Many of the gowipers/gowiwi'ers were getting upset when the people going for 3 stars would get 1 star. While the people going for 3 stars were getting upset with the gowipers/gowiwi'ers who would hit the same base multiple times expecting to get more than 2 stars. So we left and started our own clan and I think it probably worked out for the best. One of the reasons why clash is so great is because players can play it however they want and so if people really like gowipe then they should stick to it.

I agree with what a lot of people have said, adding some defense targeting troops like loons or hogs is a good way to start. If that works, then great. But you might ultimately end up having to leave.
