If a brand new th9 can raid the 6 million required to upgrade a troop using th8 troops they can certainly handle the one and then three million required for walls. It's just that they want it now now now like little two year olds.

to op I'm only almost mid level and half my walls are done. Do a few daily and you'll be fine. I spend any spare gold I have never leaving more than 300000 in my storages. Reducing your available loot won't stop the weenies that prey on lower levels, but they won't get nearly as much.
The whole foundation of the game is to grow stronger than your enemies. Otherwise, what's the point of upgrading?

To the OP, this feature was removed for a reason. This isn't just a suggestion for something brand new that might work. No, you're suggesting that they bring back something that was already removed because it didn't work.

With all the upgrades costing 2-7m they'd still be coming for your E...and that was the problem...they couldn't make armies or upgrade troops with what they were getting on raids. I could see the case for only level 10 and 11 walls, but level 10 cost 3m, so anyone saving for those is still exposing a lot of elixir a good chunk of the time, meaning there's no reason not to let players use it for that.

    Stop being dumb.

Before a few Sneak Peaks, the loot where around 20% of your total resources.

That means a TH9 building Legos would always have only 200k to be stolen.
That means a TH9 building Lavas would reach the steal cap.
That means a TH8 building Skulls would have only 100k to be stolen.
That means a TH7 building Blue Crystal would have only 40k to be stolen.

Do you really think any TH9 would find any loot if ALL the TH8's had only 100k to be stolen. Please, stop being so dumb like you are, thanks.

youre saying that it's not fair for th9s to be sitting on top of large quantities of elixir risking getting smashed for it but it's ok for a th8 too? Um yeah that seems like a reasonable answer. If th9s had to sit on elixir they would also be raiding other th9s for that elixir they needed for troop upgrades hence there would be plenty of elixir to train their troops. Th10 could then raid th9s for the elixir they need.

No, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that if you have to save 3m before you can spend it, you're sitting on relatively large quantities a lot of the time. Even if you have to save 1m before you spend it, you're still sitting on a decent amount of elixir a good portion of the time, but if you only have to save 500k before you spend it, you basically never have anything worth stealing (as I said though I wouldn't mind if you could only spend E on walls once you get to the 3m pieces, however gold is more of a commodity for TH10s in particular, so I'm not sure how much difference it would make).

Also remember at TH9 the caps are higher and the upgrades are more expensive, so that balances it out too since TH9s have to expose more loot for longer periods when saving for their upgrades. And it's not like there's a rule that forces you to do level 8 walls at TH8...I managed to max everything except my walls at TH8 and go to TH9 without wasting any E, and I've never regretted it. And that's how a strategy game is supposed to work...every play style and choice has its advantages and disadvantages.

    I like how you suggest TH9s don't raid other TH9s though...I'm a TH9 and I pretty much only raid other TH9s...and when I'm not raiding TH9s, it's more likely I'm raiding a TH10 than a TH8.

How about allowing level 8 walls to be purchased with Elixer as long as doing so doesn't reduce the amount of Elixer stored to under 2 million? This is approximately the amount stored where a TH8 still offers up maximum available to attackers.
