Don't upgrade and come down to 1100-1400 tr range and fully your storages
I'd recommend trying a Hybrid base.
Here is one I found for you while I was searching the forums that was made by Pingfao:
Switch the DE storage with the Town Hall. Put the 3 AD's in the red triangle.
Also, make sure you upgrade the Tier 1/2 troops, i.e. archers, barbs, goblins, giants, and wall breakers to max level and max your army camps. Nothing is more important than a strong offense in Clash of Clans. Hope this helped

Surre you can use gems but if you are using reward apps like you said, you are gonna need to spend more time getting gems than actually playing
Sorry buddy but your defenses are really weak for a town hall 8, your best course of action is to put your town hall on the outside and start farming. Forget about the trophies, you need to upgrade your defenses and walls. 😕

On a more serious note, go back down and farm for a while and get those troops and defenses up. It will make you harder to attack, and also will make it easier to attack and get trophies.
Just my two cents
1.Give up some of your trophies and drop your trophy count to around 1800 to prepare a bit.
2.Upgrade those mortars and your walls once you have gold.
3.get level 5 archers.
4.redesign your base, your current base have to many X junctions, you might wanna copy some good bases or get ideas from them in the http://clashofclansbuilder.com website
5.Get your trophies back and raid!
Corbin, your seriously premature. You need to do some serious farming to bring up your defences.
Even if you "Don't do farming", its a must.
Im not meaning to be rude, but I don't even know how you stayed in crystal 2. I suggest upgrading your wizard towers, and don't forget your cannons too. I saw you still had a lvl 6.
And that mortar at the bottom right, move it closer to the core of your base. The troops can get into the deadzone of the mortar ( The red circle where it can't shoot ) move it next to a wizard tower, preferably 2.
and have you heard of triangulation? You put your splash damage defences in a triangle, with its ranges overlapping. This is a really strong defence technique.
