Regarding inactive Clan leaders, rumors in the forums & Support official response...

So, there was a thread opened this week about a clan leader who left the game and a petition to Supercell to promote other person as the leader of the clan.

The thread was closed with a moderator response, confirming this:





Actually, this rumor about Support demoting inactive leaders and promoting coleaders by request, it's been on the forums for quite some time. It's not something new.


So, in our clan, the leader also quit the game 4 months ago, so after reading that response, I decided to contact Support and explain them the situation.

This is the response I got:





Translated to english, It basically says that they are sorry but they cannot meddle in clans problems. If the leader doesn't quit the clan, they can't do anything. There's no way to demote a leader, and they suggest us to create a new clan.



So, I make this thread to put an end to that rumor. Even moderators thought it was true.

Now you know, there's no way to demote a inactive leader. The only solution is create a new clan.

Hi, I can confirm its true. "They will investigate" being the key words. They may choose not to.

So it does not happen automatically. The Leader needs to leave the clan him/herself, but that may be difficult to achieve if he or she is completely inactive.
It's something that we've talked about before and hopefully we'll be able to address it at some point in a fair manner. Until then, please contact Support and, as Lach said, they'll evaluate the situation but bear in mind that Leadership cannot be assigned to someone of your choice.
