Do I need to max my walls before going to TH9?

I was in the same situation as u but many of my defences werent maxed for th8 and many troops were low. I maxed Archer towers, splash and ADs.
I rushed after getting lvl 4 hogs, Giants 5, Loons 5, WBs 4(atm), PEKKA 3 (Mistake), Heal spell 5 (For Hogs) and other common troops were done.
I was overflowing on elixir too so I decided to go th9. After 9 Days here is my situation.

9 Legos, 80 Skulls rest lvl 7. (Started at th9 wid 56 Skulls)
All the elixir I would have wasted is gettin very well utilised here. My AQ is lvl 4, My 3 Camps are going to level 7, Lab was done and Giant 6 is going on. SF was started in the first day I hit th9 And One of the DBs got Witches.
To sum it all I would say I loved my rushing decision. Loot is better at th9 and you will be able to do Walls easily (Dead bases in silver One will make u happy)

I maxed th8 before and it was really beneficial. That made me a decent th9. well, it is all up to you..

Nah. I'd say u should get at least half skulls though.
I dont support 101% maxing TH8 because lab time is ridicolously longer than buildings time.
E.g. my buildings are basically all max but 3 lv9 barracks and some collectors, and I'd still have 2 months of lab time. Def going to skip some researches.
And I have 108 skulls so far

I think TH8 is where u should Rush. What u said is true for TH7. Maxing TH8 means free builders and I dont think anyone likes it. At TH9 the game becomes really fun. I rushed and I have no regrets.

I started my th8 journey with lv 8 collectors, lv 1 minions and lv 3 rage spell. And even after maxing TH8, I still never got the time to max healers(lv 2), goblins (lv 3), lightning (lv 4) and valks. The real bottleneck at TH8 is the research. I maxed my walls even before knowing it. lv 8 walls are pretty easy to farm and trust me at th9, you will be glad that you did them. Not only lv 9 walls can be upgraded with elixir, but also, it takes 3 lv 5 wallbreakers to breach them. So I suggest doing lv 8 walls at TH8 because you will be glad of not wasting your gold on nexting in multiplayer raids just to farm them. Good luck on your journey.

You don't have too but it is recommended. Lots of people go to town hall 9 without all their skulls done and do pretty good. Just know that it would be easier to defend with skull walls and plus all skull walls have a bit of an intimidation factor against a th8 or lower that is. If you can farm enough to to erase any potential losses on defence then go for it. I do think you should max your loons out for th8 since they get a big buff at th9. If you don't care about wars and don't use balloonian for farming then you don't have too. Just know that you won't be using any balloonian or lavaloonian for a while with lvl 3 loons.

You dont have to. I would suggest getting all walls to level 7 and some to level 8.

I am mid TH8 with all splash damages maxed and point defences at lvl 9. My teslas are at lvl 5, one going to lvl 6 in order to protect my de. Anyways, my walls are 59 skulls and the rest are purple.

All my troops are maxed except for the following:
- Wall Breakers Lvl 3
- Healers Lvl 1
- PEKKA Lvl 1
- Dragons Lvl 2 (4 more days to lvl 3)
- Golems
- Minions Level 2

Spells:
- Light Lvl 4
- Rage Lvl 3
- Poison Lvl 1
- EQ Lvl 1

So what do you think guys? I have rather decent farming speed and my 5 workers has been having sore eyes (due to lack of sleep) through the whole of my COC journey. I personally feel that walls do not need to be maxed as I have a friend who is a TH10 and wins all defenses in champs with his walls only lvl 7 and his core lvl 8 and 9.

You DONT have to, but it would be better if you do, now if you wont do it ill be happy to take all your loot n.n when i see you on the field with only 15 GG lvl 6 :*

Upgrade your Golems ASAP. And Pekkas. In general just max your Lab and you'll be fine.
