I was thinking of unretiring, I am wondering if you have to "grind" for hours to succeed in TH8 and beyond.. I have a life, you probably have a life too, so I can not play Clash for 8 hours straight. I am aware you need to focus on the game more as you get to Th9 and Th10, but do you need to spend HOURS, and HOURS on the game?

Well, for sure not at TH8. Just play casually and you'll get there. Right now, I'm slowing down so I don't burn out before FE V on my pushing, so I log on every 45 minutes or so, attack, put the next army, and log off. Simple enough.Originally Posted by Antdroid

Hours as in hours-long session? Nah, I've never done that. I just train a Loonion and go DE Farming once every hour. When i was farming my Legos, i used Gibarch wnd attacked every 30 min. I usually get about, idk, 10 attacks done per day, maybe 20? On busy days, it would be 5.
And right now I'm sitting on a maxed TH9 working on Lava walls and Heroes at 15 each. So its really not difficult.
The thing about maxed TH9 and up is, you are very rarely 3 starred. So instead of losing 300k when destroyed as a TH8, you'll probably get 50%ed as a TH9 and lose like, 160k roughly, each. So you can literally relax more when you log off.

Pretty much, and I'm th9. It won't be as hard. Just barch or GiBarch while you farm. Quick, easy. Farming takes longer periods of time spent, I was saying about how I play whilst pushing.

Your personal preference. but if you are one to boost barracks than you have no choice but to fully spend two hours sitting there and farming because you spent money. If you have a lot of free time and actually do nothing all day except play clash than boosting would be a waste of money and you playing for hours and filling up your storages multiple times in the day is way better than playing casually.
Raiding once per hour will actually slow you down a whole lot and will take you longer to progress. But it's alright really. Up to you in the end.
And it depends how fast you want to progress...
I'm totally taking it easy at 9, as I know I'll be here a while. I do 2-8 attacks a day. Usually zero outside attacks during war days (other clanmates do it...no idea how...well maybe like Cheese and Alisreal suggested, on and off).
Sometimes I'll boost and get a whole bunch done in a couple hours if I have a free evening and am close to starting an upgrade. Otherwise I just check in, chat, and donate, taking it easy, never gets to be too much.

This is also true. But if you're in High Masters, raiding once per hour on a fully stocked base is nearly the equivalent of raiding twice in Gold.
Also, i currently have time constraints, so i can't play as much CoC as i like. Thats why Loonion suits me better atm.
I do 1-2 hours sessions simply because I have the time. And 5 builders. And I dont like idle builders
