I upgrade the BK 5 levels then I bring queen up to the same level. Never stop upgrading them.

BK to 20 first. Then you can go AQ all the way.

My BK was 22, when I upgrade my AQ from 20 to 40. Then back to BK, currently 38.

When I was early to mid th10 I felt the bk was usually the one taking down th in cw. So I had him up to 10 levels ahead of the queen. Now that I am attacking max bases it is still very often the king but if he fails the queen is a much needed backup for th plus she collects quite a bit of % buildings normally.
For war you definitely need both imo. Keep them close together in steps of 5.
For farming a strong queen is gold.

I upgrade one hero at a time until the next ability is unlocked and my BK is 5 - 10 levels behind my AQ. BK is 25 and AQ is 34. Once AQ is 35 I'll get BK up to 30. AQ is very important but I'm finding the BK is much better at 25 than he was at 20, so I wouldn't leave him too many levels below the AQ.

I decided to level up the queen to level 25, then work on king and queen with a 5 levels gaps minimum.
I think level 25 queen wouldn't take so much work, 2-3 months and i sould go with king.
Already maxed lava, poison and golem, so no worry about de upgrades.

The queen may be stronger, but the king gets more benefit from upgrading. I would suggest saving up more de and doing both at the same time to keep the time you have to opt out as low as possible. This works until lvl20. From then on start your king first and then continue farming with your queen so you can send her to upgrade as well.

A level 25 queen can do probably more than 25% demage than 15 queen with the ability.
A level 20 king can summon 2 more barb and have 200-30p more hp (2 sec more not much)

Good luck on getting your heroes up. It is hard work.

This one sounds like a good idea, always prioritize queen but don't neglect the BK as he is a strong tank. Check the link below to see some facts about AQ.
