Don't need a free builder to upgrade walls

I clearly said, any structure upgradable requires a builder to do so...traps aren't upgradable.

If you want to upgrade a structure a builder is needed to do so, walls are no different, nor should they be.

And I clearly said that walls take forever so to make your base upgrade at a steady pace you could also feel productive by upgrading walls where's as not everyone has 4-5 builders available

once upon a time, you COULD upgrade walls without a builder and you know what? the economy was horrible. there wasn't ever any loot to find.

then supercell changed it so you had to have a builder to upgrade the walls because it helped the economy. if the reversed the decision, in a week you'll be back asking for it to be back like it was! seriously.

it's fine the way it is.

Upgrading walls without a builder was changed shortly after the games inception, I believe it was changed within the first months (but don't quote me on that.)

At that point the game was brand new and they were still working out how to balance things.

Actually, a wall only takes a few seconds to upgrade. Saving for all the walls to be able to upgrade each piece takes long.
If you don't have 4-5 builders than you wasted your gems, gemming things that didn't need to be gem'ed. Pretty easy to get to 4 builders. The 5th certainly takes much longer

Comes down to planning. Time your builders to finish at different intervals. Do your upgrades so that one builder is finished in 2 days.. another finished in 3 days.. another finished in 4 days.... or depending on your level I suppose... 5 , 7, 9 days... whatever...

A guy in our clan is TH8 now with still only 2 builders. He's always whining that "upgrades take too long now" and "I can't raid" because people will steal his loot before a builder comes free.

I told him (repeatedly) this day would come back when he was TH7 gem-boosting his level1 DE drill to "get my king faster..."

Then there would be ZERO gold and later game ZERO elixer to raid as it would all be in walls.

Walls cost a lot; if somebody has 900K of the 1M that they need for a wall and then log-off, there's plenty to raid. What's more, people rarely focus on walls and as soon as they focus something expensive, there'll be a TON to raid.
