No, the whole point of heroes is to buff an extremely low damage troop. If there were to be a 3rd hero, it would definitely be a minion.

They should make a flying Gem troop that goes straight to the th and starts crushing it and at the last possible moment when the th is almost down the flying gem troop will abandon its attack and leave the core to attack a strategic builder hut in the corner.

Judging by what I seen in the ruled out section they want to make a hero that is not a troop in game. Which is cool since the first two only spawn more troops. The next should have a new ability.

And I am with you, unless there is a speculation sub-forum that I am unaware of, this is the perfect place to daydream about what the 3rd hero would be. The poster did not suggest a 3rd hero but merely started a thread asking for guesses as to what a new hero could be.
