Significance of maxing dark elixir drills

The "IT HAS TO BE A PRIORITY" people really add nothing to the thread. The question is where? It absolutely shouldn't be the first thing you put your elixir into. If you're like me, war focused and farms with loonion, your elixir priorities are lab, SF, camps, loons, dsf, then you can start putting your elixir into your DE drills, and if you're a gibarch farmer they're behind giants as well. Sure, they're important, but hardly the top priority.

There is nothing "free" about saving 16 million elixir as an early TH9.

As I'm going to press the upgrade to TH9 button soon-ish, my plan is (for elixir-related updates):
- Lab and spell factory basically as soon as I hit TH9
- first days I see how farming is like at TH9
- do army camps meanwhile
- upgrade giants to 6
- max those drills
- go on with other troop upgrades hopefully at the same time

I made the Maths on how much DE I'd get with 2 level 6 drills and yeah thats worth it

You need about 3.5 million DE to max out your heroes and dark troops/spells at TH9 .. if you can get hold of that faster by raiding, all the power to you. For the rest of us, the extra 4800 DE a day play a significant part of our base economy.

(I "only" have to gather around 7500 DE a day, to keep my heroes upgrading in turns, that is fine by me.)

Really?3.5 million DE max heroes, troops and dark spells? I'm TH9 with 3.5 heroic heist not reach that level yet. While all my dark troops maxed for th9, all my dark spells still level one and both heroes close to late 20's.

What town hall level are you? Ever maxed 30/30 heroes as th9? That's what i'm doing. Maybe you right about made a lot of dark troops. I'm in clan which only two players including me with access to high level dark troops, clanmates usually ask for golems, lava hounds and witches for war.
Currently, BK 26/ AQ 23. I always put th outside, luckily people like to snipe me. On average only one out ten raid on me storage attempts and even most of them fail to touch my DE storage. In last two weeks, only one managed to grab my DE from storage. I'm jumping between gold one to crystal two leagues. I also managed to hold my DE from AQ+healers strat. Best defenses are, position of air sweepers and centralized CC.
On my early days as th9 might lose more DE than now but i don't think lose that much.
By the way I started playing mid September last year, skipped town hall level 8.
I prioritize both DE drills to level 6 after lab, SF, army camps and CC done. I can say DE drills worth the upgrade early on.

very good idea to prioritize it early on. It does suck waiting for upgrades and farming the lix, but worth it in the end. The sooner you get that 4800 dark per day, the easier it makes those hero upgrades.

My drills were maxed for 6 months now, that's 900,000 DE

The name of the game (if you like war) is big heros. Do anything you can to facilitate your ability to upgrade them quickly and consistantly.

myself, I don't raid w dark troops. I Basically only raid for DE. I upgraded my drills right after spell factory, research facility and camps. Only then did I begin research. I have L30 heros, non gemmer.

I have 2 lvl 5 drills now... I mean 8 days + 5M exlir upgrade for it seems to massive..

Have both hereos on lvl10 now..

So should I upgrade them while upgrading def .. Or max them when I have free builders at end ... The difference from lvl5 drill to lvl6 drill is just 20de per hour ... In long run it seems massive thou.

4800 a day, 33600 a week, isn't that much when you need to spend hundreds of thousands a week to upgrade both heroes and the lab. I find the de drills most useful for easily timing how much sleep I've had at night.

That additional 20de/hour is really crucial in the long run. Considering both drill it's almost 1k de everyday. Sum it up and it's close to 30k de per month. For some it's nothing, for it's huge amount, but it's still passive income. Just do them and forget about them. Yeah, that 5m is a pain in the ♥♥♥, but it's one time and you have to worry about drills on th10.
