Significance of maxing dark elixir drills

Should I do it or not, as it takes a lot of elixir. I'm a new town hall 9, should I do it ASAP or just not focus on it too much? As a th8.5 do I complete Legos before buying new defenses?

You should make DE drills a priority. You need A LOT of DE at th9.

Why some people neglect a passive income I will never understand.

(max lvl6 drill) 2.400 DE/day * 2 (two drills at th9) = 4.800 * 7 (week) = 33.600. Don't neglect 33.600 DE per week (The number with max drills at TH10 is 50.400).

2 Level 6 DE drills produce 4800 de every 24 hrs... They are well worth it. I just got my 3rd lvl 6 one this morning doing the 9.5 root

For me it is first priority after spell factory and lab before / with army camp. Lvl 6 drills help alot with 100 de per hour, 4800 per day from 2 drills. You won't miss dark elixir much afterwards.

There have been many similar threads and even threads saying upgrading any mines etc is pointless...I couldn't disagree more. Overnight and after a day at work my pumps generally have around 35k in each one..Why would you turn down that easy loot and the same goes for the DE.
It keeps the economy flowing which is the real irony of people saying 'Don't bother, just raid for it' and also you will be surprised how quickly you max them and then just forget about them and move onto the rest of your base.
They may not be sexy upgrades but do em and forget em.

Okay guys I'll prioritise them, but damn they're expensive! Which league U guys farming, gold 3 is dead!

You need about 3.5 million DE to max out your heroes and dark troops/spells at TH9 .. if you can get hold of that faster by raiding, all the power to you. For the rest of us, the extra 4800 DE a day play a significant part of our base economy.

(I "only" have to gather around 7500 DE a day, to keep my heroes upgrading in turns, that is fine by me.)

I always max my economy first, at each level my first priority is to max all drills and mines. It has always been well worth it to me as I can usually only play a few hours a day (and not farm all my waking hours).
