It doesn't work if you are the only .5 in the clan.
The whole clan must be .5 for it to be successful.
Move to another clan where everybody follows the .5 strategy or start upgrading your defenses because .5 strategy won't help you at all.

I must say, it is quite nice being someone who really doesn't warI am a near max TH9 and have about 240 war stars total. I prefer farming or pushing over warring any day. I've been working recently on getting 1-2 stars on TH10s with GoGiWi for pushing, it's really fun. When I head to TH10 in a couple weeks, I'll be happy to see that any and all upgrades I do help me exponentially (I do go for defensive wins and I have about a 50% win rate on defense), for example infernos will give me that little bit of extra power, an extra xbow, freeze spells, higher level troops. In short, I can't wait! And I'm not even going to think once about wasting my time on TH9.5
Annnyways. that's just my two cents.
.5 is about sacrificing defenses on your own base for the clan as a whole. You have to remember that you are not being individually matched against any other bases - the only criteria considered for war matchmaking is the overall weight of the clans.
And if you're the only player in your clan making this sacrifice, the benefits will be negligible.
So much misinformation in this thread its shocking.
Check your war weight and that of your entire team.
Total elixer held in your base x 6
Now check your enemies war weight not their loot value. That can can be changed via clan perks.
I can all but guarentee you will be close to each other.
They never match th vs th.
I've been trying to decide what I am going to do with my th9 that is 10 days from turning myself. As a completely max 9 with 30/30 heroes and lightning finishing tomorrow, my presence almost always brings in 2 th10s anyway, generally 1 non rushed fairly new 10 and one premie.....I've become pretty consistent at 2 starring and occasionally 3 starring said th10s, just can't decide if it would be of any benefit to me or not. At the very least castle will take precedence over infernos at least right away.

Mostly true.
If your base will be 3 starred and you're war weight causes an additional base in the opponent that your clan can only 2 star, it costs your clan a star from the start of prep day. There may be offsetting advantages, but I would not recommend TH9.5 generally.
Lower 0.5 don't face this negative as much (in a strong clan) you are 3 starred but so is the base that you add to the opponents (note: not your mirror)

It's SUPER easy to game the matchmaking system to get favorable matchups. Having the only TH10 in your clan as a TH9.5 is not one of them.
New TH10 should not hit their mirror. They should hit up. (a lot with those tasty 30/30 heros) Once you have Golem 5/Jump 3, and 275 army space/5 spells, 2 starring Max TH10 should be doable. It may be doable earlier.
These should likely be your targets in war so that the stronger attackers at the top of your war roster can 3 star more TH10s. As good as you are, they still likely have better odds at 3 stars, having them go for 2 on max TH10 is a waste. (If they're going/getting for 3 stars on max TH10, ignore this post completely, your clan is playing a different game).
There may be a case for building infernos before the offense/economy (lab/sf/camps/cc/drill/mine/collector). Would making the 3 star on your base significantly harder add value in close matchups? If so, infernos before offense/economy. If not, then right after.
Edit: There is a case for delaying infernos longer if you rush to TH10, but coming from max TH9, they should be built either right away or just after the offense/economy upgrades.

kinda hard to hit up when you're the #1 position....also how I know exactly what my current 9 brings in. Whenever I am out there are no tens involved.......also to clarify this is on a second account, already have a max def. with 35/35. I just rarely use that one in wars.

Sorry about misunderstanding.
I think I'd probably avoid adding them then in your case. Adding them would only affect outcomes between perfect for them and one less. There's probably a bigger risk that adding them affects your outcome by decreasing stars either at the top of the map or by increasing their defenses across the board.
