    Yup.

How are clans matched for a clan war?

Clan wars matchmaking matches clans based on the strength of their members. Unlike multiplayer battles, trophies have no influence in determining your clan wars opponent. After an opposing clan is found, the war immediately starts. There’s no “nexting” in clan wars matchmaking.
    No mention of clan level.

I do this with my own accounts and I win all wars, currently on streak of 3 perfect wars (max stars). This is definitely not a losing strategy. Half of your clan should be lv 5 TH3s, the other half should 6 star. Very easy in fact.

    how to win

Bring only th10s that can 2 star other th10s and 3 star th9s. Bring only th9s that can goho/shatlaloon, bring only th8s that can hog. Stack your clan with only these champs at the top and then at the bottom throw th7s and th6s. Number 1 guy attacks 1/2 2 guy attacks 3/4 3 attacks 5/6 and so on. Sit back and watch your wins happen.

    Correct

Both of those strategies mentioned by Lord and Reaver will work. The low level accounts in your clan will get 3 starred anyway....but it only takes 15 active members with 15 active second accounts to wage a 30 v 30 war and generally ur opponents top ranks are seriously outmatched. We just tried this because we needed to start getting some wins again. I scoffed at clans that do this, but Supercell has not weighted heroes as much as they should be. Once you get to that lvl 30ish range, you can crush. As an example of hero weights try this, our last war we lost, their # 3 had heroes lvl 15 for AQ and 13 for BK...their #4 had lvl 21 of each. There were very few differences in bases, # 3 had two higher level xbows same traps, teslas, #4 even had more upgraded walls. If heroes are weighted more after the update, how is their #4 not ranked ahead of their # 3? Okay enough of my whining. Lord is correct too. But it takes a long time in many cases to fine the people proficient in those attacks. Also though, when u stack the clan with low ranked second accounts, it is fun watching a lvl 8, three star a lvl 24 with a valk in the CC. Some will complain that what Lord is doing goes against the "integrity" of the game, but forget that noise, its war, you do what u can to win, until SC weights heroes and walls even more, which they wont becuase ppl wouldnt gem them...this is the new Clash. Raid for dough, War for show!

We have never lost to a clan who does this, maybe if we met in war we will find out if it's a losing strategy or a winning one.

And their bottom better be three starred all the time. We have been bringing some recently and we've been doing pretty well, so I'd say give it a shot. That many TH8.5s when everyone is maxing their walls is your problem though.

I thought clan level was a factor...maybe it is...but oddly enough our current war we are lvl 8 and our opponent is lvl 2.

We've had some really terrible matchups recently.

I think we have too many 8.5/9.5 bases...and those bases don't have strong enough heroes...and SC has nerfed the hell out of the value of 0.5 to war.

One of our ridiculously unabalanced recent matchups their bottom 5 were TH3, and it sure seemed to give them a clearly and vastly superior position.

BTW, in a war with many levels of TH involved..."giving up" easy three stars down low is totally and completely meaninglesss. We usually have TH10-TH7 and sometimes new guys or juniors that are TH4-6. TH7 and under doesn't even count. At all. Their attacks don't matter their base design doesn't matter them getting three stars or being three starred does. not. matter. at. all. They are all going to be three starred every war with low level attacks leftover, on both sides.

So if you can bring a bunch of stupid low accounts at the bottom and have the advantage up top it is absolutely worth doing.

Even TH8 only matters marginally since an 8.5 or low 9 can easily drop to three one or two of them if the 8's have problems.

In mixed TH wars, nothing under TH9 even matters.

True, but that post by Marika was made before clan levels existed.

I am pretty sure they aren't taken into account, but I have not seen anything definitive posted by Supercell since clan levels came in.

It would be very hard to lose (assuming you don't suck hard) but you would occasionally get 30-30 draws. I'll post my war log tomorrow and you'll see.
