Clan War Matching (Again?)

Our clan is at the end of our rope. We're continuously getting matched against much, much stronger clans. We have three wars a week and it's been happening for a couple of months now, so a couple of dozen horrendous match-ups and an equally horrendous win-loss record. I'm trying to figure out what's happened and what we can do to even things out. Any insight would be appreciated.

Oh, and as an example of our matchups, in our current war our top TH8 is going up against a nearly maxed TH9. I looked at several bases and our opponents straight across are about +20 o defensive upgrades.

I'll try to list potential factors (and I can provide more if needed):

• 47 members, we usually war at 40 members
• 7 TH10s, 20ish TH9s, 20ish TH8s
• We have about a dozen TH8.5s (no 9.5s)
• Clan level 7
• We max before going to the next TH level
• That includes maxing lab upgrades (troops/spells)
• We have a 114 war wins (the good old days)
• We start wars at 8:30 EST on Wed, Fri, and Sun
• Our draws are usually at the same clan level and around the same wins
• The matching issue started around the time a big group of TH8s moved to TH9

I'm wondering if maxing our walls is hurting us that much? Or our offensive upgrades? We're typically outmatched on heroes as well as defenses. We're generally equal or stronger on offensive upgrades but that's not very helpful. I don't really need barch/bam for war. And if most of our opponents have 2 viable/max attack comps, they can just choose their bases selectively and they're equally matched in terms of what they're actually attacking with. Are clan level and war wins being factored in and there's just not enough of a pool of opponents to draw from? I honestly have no idea, which is why I created an account and posted this thread. All I do know is something is weighting things very, very badly for us and it started when most of our TH8s started moving to TH9.

A dozen th 8.5? We war against th 8.5 clan and we won. We are max th 8 and th 7. I think th 8.5 nowadays is not good in clan wars just saying.

Take a break, do a couple 10v10 or 20v20s until everyone feels ready. That war fix won't come till Oct 24 unfortunately. They can hold till then you have a good clan.

NewSoul, what war fix? I know there's a big announcement coming but haven't heard anything about it relating to war matchmaking.

I understand the logic behind the weighting system, but I just don't see the proof. I use to be one of those ppl who cringed when ppl asked how to get easier match ups. Since around May this year, we have been outmatched in most wars on hero and wall level. We generally do 35 v 35. We face clans with 6 to 8 TH 10s, like us, however in most cases we have been grossly outmatched in hero level, every single TH 9 and 10. I have the highest level AQ at 21 and BK at 20, and we face max heroes or at least lvl 30 and up repeatedly since the update. If heroes are weighted so heavily how do these matchups occur. Anyone with max heroes can 2 star anything, at least. Match making is what it is, u suck it up and take your lumps, but we started warring in July of 2014 and went 115-36-5. Since May we are 30-20-0. No major level changes have occurred in our clan, our TH levels are kept within the same ratio or near it with new recruits, but now we either blow out the clan we face every once and a while, or mostly get rocked by high level heroes. Okay, done whining, but somebody tell me how heroes heavily effect a clans weight? Here is my completely unfounded, non factual conspiracy theory, if heroes were weighted heavily...no one would gem them.

Yeah, I want to be clear: I'm not trying to whine. I just want to get to the bottom of it. If TH8.5 or walls or something else is causing the weighting issue, I just want to be able to adjust our upgrade strategy moving forward and hopefully get things back into balance at some point.

We're running into much stronger heroes in most wars too. No idea why.

Another question / idea. Does anybody bring in low level alts to anchor the bottom of their clan and pull matchmaking down? I'm willing to try just about anything to get even matches.

Those just end up being easy 3 stars for the enemy, it's a losing strategy.

Without any more information, I would say that you're unbalanced offensively and defensively. You say that you usually have a slight advantage in offense, and it sounds like you might have a large advantage in walls. It also sounds like you've also held back your defense, at least with all those 8.5s. You say that your opponents are better defensively than you are, so work on getting your defense up to par.

What are the TH matchups in your recent wars? I know people say TH level doesn't matter, but all else equal, it does. If you're a TH8 trying to 3 star an average TH9, you're in trouble.
