ClashCon - Pay to play features like Poker Blinds

Been hearing theories out there that whatever update comes in ClashCon, whether it be clan war tournaments, or individual quests, the big game changer is going to be more pay to play avenues in the game. Perhaps you can only participate in clan war tournaments if you pay gems, and there will be some new metric, sort of like legend league trophies but for clan war, that are essentially only going to be acquired via gem spendings on getting into tournaments. Basically, building more types of game play (which is awesome), but to participate, spend gems, like poker "blinds".

Just curious to hear community's thoughts if it is true. No idea if it is of course.

This would kill the 'freemium' image Clash now has. This is the model that made Supercell rich and what makes differ from other games. I highly doubt any pay2play feature would ever be implemented.

What made the game so appealing to many is the fact that everyone has access to everything, albeit, non-gemmers would have to wait. Introducing something contrary to that image of CoC would certainly doom the game. Sure, they'd still get players but only the whales, the ones that spend hundreds of dollars a month for gems. They would lose the bigger bulk, the ones who pay occasionally and yet constitute a chunk of SCs paycheck.

They make this pay to play, or pay to win, and I promise there would be one less player in the game.

Its a really fun game, but its also very very simple, which is totally understandable for a free game.
They want me to pay them money on a regular basis, they need to add a hundred more features. I paid $15/month to blizzard for years, but only because that game had an insane amount of extra features beyond the diverse gameplay. This game will die a quick death if they make people pay for the 'good parts'....unless they add a ton of depth.
