I got both my heroes to level 30 last week. Both heroes were simultaneously upgrading non-stop for about 20 weeks (there was a short break in their due to a trip that disrupted my farming). It was a pretty terrible experience. The amount of time required to get the 200K+ DE I needed every week required a lot of work, but the misery of not being able to even attempt 3 star attacks in war was the worst part.

That said, I got pretty proficient with two star attacks, even against the maxed TH9s I drew in war. Like you, I have a second TH9 account (currently with level 12 heroes), so I was able to still have some fun in war with that account while my main account had no heroes available.

However, now that the misery is over I'm having a ball. The way I see it, you have to choose between 15 weeks of being hobbled in war (no heroes), or 30 weeks of slightly reduced capacity (upgrading one hero at a time). The choice probably also depends on whether or not two stars is sufficient against your TH9 opponents. We don't draw the toughest competition in war, so we were able to win most of our wars in spite of my main account's reduced capacity. The two stars I earned against my mirror was usually sufficient.

Even if you decide to attempt upgrading both heroes at once, you may have trouble farming the 200K+ you'll need once your heroes cross level 20. I think I started boosting my DE drills around level 27 to help out. That last week I had to farm 290K. I typically raided for about 6K DE per hour (or 14K boosted) using BAM. If you're more efficient that I am with your farming the time burden may not be as great. I know I wouldn't have had time to do this back when I was in college. Good luck!

I do this so that I can still 3star the low th9s I matchup with in war even with both heros upgrading ie. I dont have to opt out of war.

The initial plan after going to th9, was to upgrade both heros non-stop until 20/20 atleast. But around this point itself, I find myself lagging behind schedule. Since I am leader of a serious war clan, tough battle days also affect my farming. I have new th9 alt(which is a plus for my farming actually due to constant max wiz donations), and I war continously with both these accounts ie. have 4 th9 war attacks to plan every 2 days.

Is it reasonable to do only one hero for now in my case, or is it worth devoting some more of my free time to ensure both heros are being upgraded constantly(I can afford the occasional boost)? Maybe wait till the clashcon update to see if we'll have upgrading heros in war? I've seen many posts saying "both my heros are constantly upgraded" so I believe its not too uncommon. How frequently do you guys upgrade heros and how much time do you spent for farming the de?
I did both mine continuously to level 25, then I relaxed a bit and kept one going at a time. I used loonion in master 2 mainly, later I did it in champ to max them. You probably don't want to be that high if you are a th9. I thought it was great loonion practice going for the normally internal DE store with no heroes. My second account now benefits from that experience (both heroes at level 20, th9)

    Good luck with it :-)

If you are serious about non-stop hero upgrades then you have to sacrifice a lot of lix. Therefore, You can't war or do anything else lix intensive while trying to upgrade heroes. You can't do gold raids either or try to save up lix for research. Not all at the same time.

    I am AQ30/29 at th9.

(BK's so useless for resource raiding. Yes, he can have that turning effect on a raid but, then he's asleep for the next 1hr20mins. GG. No, I will not boost him.) AQ >>>>>>>>> BK. BK is so useless. AQ is worth the boost but, BK is not.

I'm a th10, never seen my queen for 10 weeks upgrade her thru out now she's maxed, Kings turn no seen him for 5 weeks now level 35 going to 36. I would not recommending upgrading both at once.

As a rusher I've had access to heroes early and thus don't have the problem of 20/20 heroes at max defense. My heroes will be finished in some more weeks with an extremely low base weight.

I "paused" them at 15/15 once to get proficient at wars and then resumed again after I've had enough practise. My plan is to stay at 9 so those heroes will be game changing whether it be applying to top clans or absolutely demolishing bases in arranged wars.

As for how much I raid, I simply townhall snipe in masters 2 and am always overflowing with de even with both heroes down constantly. It's relatively simple and a guaranteed take

I love to war, so I take my sweet time and upgrade both at the same time. This way, I try to have both available for war for a week, upgrade the next week, and so on - so I should say upgrade both at a time every 2 weeks.

Early in TH9 i had both King and Queen down at the same time quite often. Then when I started doing DE research in the lab I was only able to keep one down. Now I'm only planning on one upgrade per week and doing it after our 2nd war (we only war 2x per week). This way I only have to spend 300-400 gems to wake up the hero for war.

I know my progress will be slow like this but I can war with both heroes for a fairly minimal cost.

I upgraded both non-stop for most of my TH9 time (started to slow down my play a bit as they got to around level 25). I would try to upgrade each of them as much as you can. If you cannot do both non-stop then go for overlapping upgrade times (like where you put one down, play with the other for 3 days, then put it to sleep). Ideally you at least have 1 or 2 days a week where both are sleeping, but this allows you to earn DE at a much slower rate and lets you play with one hero at a time, most of the time. I did this when my heroes neared 30 because I wanted to play CoC less and it allowed me to earn less DE a week.

Overall, earn as much DE as you can (I was always in farming in Crystal 2 or higher) and keep both asleep as much as you can. If you cannot keep them both asleep non-stop then don't worry about it as other life goals may be more important.

Q at 26. King at 22. I'm farming DE and then upgrading Q after my two war attacks. She then cooks until the last 5 hours of the next war. Gem her at that point it costs about 700 gems. If the war is out of hand, let her cook down two more days. Bought $150 worth of gems and still have 16k left. Should be enough to get her to level 40 and the king a few more levels too. FWIW, that is the only money spent on the game.
